Key moments

The decisive run came midway through the third quarter. With Parnu leading by seven, the hosts rattled off a quick 12-2 burst fueled by defensive stops and fast-break baskets. Latvijas Universitate called timeout, but Parnu maintained the momentum, pushing the lead to 71-57 by the end of the period. The visitors never recovered fully, and Parnu controlled the final ten minutes with composed offense and timely rebounding.

Latvijas Universitate had their moments, particularly when their guards attacked the basket and drew fouls. But Parnu’s ability to answer every mini-run kept the visitors at arm’s length. The hosts’ three-point shooting and transition scoring were the difference-makers in the second half.

Tactical story

Parnu played with pace from the opening tip, looking to attack before Latvijas Universitate’s defense could set. The guards pushed the ball aggressively, and the wings ran the lanes hard, creating easy looks at the rim. When the visitors packed the paint, Parnu swung the ball quickly and knocked down open perimeter shots.

Defensively, Parnu’s activity bothered Latvijas Universitate. The hosts forced turnovers and contested shots, turning defense into offense. On the glass, Parnu’s frontcourt held its own, limiting second-chance points and allowing the guards to get out in transition. It was a complete team performance built on energy and execution.

Standout performers and standings impact

Parnu’s backcourt controlled the game, combining scoring and playmaking while setting the tempo. The wings contributed timely shooting, and the big men provided solid screens, rebounding and interior defense. Latvijas Universitate’s young lineup showed resilience, but they lacked the firepower to match Parnu’s balanced attack.

The 91-77 victory strengthens KK Parnu’s position in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League standings and gives them a valuable home win. For Latvijas Universitate, the game highlighted the need for better defensive consistency and shot selection on the road. Parnu’s third-quarter surge was the turning point, and from there the hosts never looked back.
