Tartu secured a convincing 89-71 road victory over Keila KK on 17 October 2026 in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League. The 18-point win was built on steady offensive execution, a strong rebounding performance and a decisive fourth-quarter run that ended Keila's hopes of completing a comeback.

Tartu led for nearly the entire contest and answered every Keila KK challenge with composure. The result strengthens Tartu's position in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League standings and gives the team an important away win in a competition where road form can shape the season.

Match overview

Tartu started with better rhythm on offense, moving the ball patiently and finding open shooters against Keila's half-court defense. Keila KK stayed within reach for much of the first half, but the visitors maintained a narrow but firm advantage.

• First quarter: Keila KK 19-24 Tartu
• Second quarter: Keila KK 17-22 Tartu
• Third quarter: Keila KK 20-21 Tartu
• Fourth quarter: Keila KK 15-22 Tartu
• Final score: Keila KK 71-89 Tartu

At halftime, Tartu led 46-36. Keila KK found some momentum in the third quarter and briefly cut the deficit to single digits, but Tartu's response in the final period removed any doubt about the outcome.

Key moments

The key stretch came early in the fourth quarter. With Keila KK threatening to make it a one-possession game, Tartu produced an 11-0 run that pushed the lead back to 17 points. The run featured a pair of defensive stops, a transition layup and a wide-open three-pointer from the wing.

Keila KK had an encouraging spell late in the third quarter when back-to-back baskets cut the gap to four points. However, Tartu remained calm, slowed the tempo and used its half-court offense to create higher-percentage shots. The visitors' ability to score after Keila's runs proved to be the difference.

Tactical story

Tartu's defense was compact and disciplined, forcing Keila KK into difficult perimeter shots and limiting easy drives to the basket. The visitors also controlled the defensive glass, which prevented Keila from generating second-chance points and allowed Tartu to dictate the pace.

On offense, Tartu shared the ball well and attacked mismatches inside. When Keila KK doubled the post, Tartu found cutters and spot-up shooters. Keila's best moments came when they increased the tempo and attacked early in the shot clock, but those sequences were not frequent enough to overturn the deficit.

Standout players

Tartu's Rasmus Veelmaa led all scorers with 21 points and added eight rebounds, consistently finding ways to score around the basket. Karl-Johan Peterson contributed 17 points, while Sander Saaremäe finished with 12 points and several key assists in the second half.

For Keila KK, Martin Paasoja scored 18 points and Kristjan Kitsing added 15, but the home side struggled to find a third consistent scoring option. Keila's guards created some good looks in transition, yet Tartu's defensive rotations and rebounding advantage kept the home team from building sustained momentum.

Season impact

The road win gives Tartu valuable momentum in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League and reinforces the team's credentials as a difficult opponent both at home and away. An 89-point performance with balanced scoring is a positive sign for the club's offensive consistency.

Keila KK will need to respond quickly, particularly at the defensive end. The home side competed for long stretches but conceded too many second-chance points and allowed Tartu to pull away in the final quarter. Better rebounding and more efficient late-game execution will be priorities in the next round.
