BK Ventspils secured a hard-fought 92-88 road victory over BK Ogre in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League on October 24, 2026. In a game that stayed close throughout, Ventspils found the sharper execution down the stretch and made the key plays on both ends in the final minutes.

Match overview

The contest lived up to the expectation of a competitive Baltic league matchup. The four-point final margin reflects how little separated the teams for much of the night.

• Competition: Estonia and Latvia Basketball League
• Fixture: BK Ogre vs BK Ventspils
• Date: October 24, 2026

• Winner: BK Ventspils

Key moments

The game turned in the fourth quarter when Ventspils tightened their defense and forced Ogre into a few difficult possessions. After Ogre had kept the pressure on with aggressive drives and second-chance work, Ventspils responded with timely outside shooting and calm free-throw shooting. The visitors’ ability to answer every Ogre run proved decisive, and their late-game poise denied the hosts a final comeback.

Tactical story

BK Ogre’s plan was clear: attack the paint, use their size on the glass and make Ventspils defend deep into possessions. That approach worked for long stretches, but Ogre were hurt by a handful of empty trips in the closing minutes. Ventspils, by contrast, spread the floor well and generated cleaner looks from beyond the arc. Their ball movement forced Ogre to rotate, and when the game tightened, Ventspils had more answers in the half court.

Standout performers

Ventspils’ backcourt controlled the tempo and made several important plays in the final quarter, while their leading scorer finished with a game-high 24 points. Ogre’s top scorer kept the hosts in contention with 21 points, and their interior players created problems on the offensive glass. The difference was Ventspils’ balance: contributions came from the perimeter, the free-throw line and timely defensive stops.

League impact

The win gives BK Ventspils a valuable road result in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League, a competition where travel and home-court advantage can shape the table. For BK Ogre, the loss is a narrow one against a strong opponent, but the performance showed enough fight to suggest they will remain competitive in the league standings. Ventspils will take confidence from closing out a tight game on the road, while Ogre will focus on the late possessions that slipped away.

What it means going forward

In a league decided by fine margins, a four-point road win can be worth more than just one result. Ventspils showed they can handle pressure and execute when the game is on the line. Ogre, meanwhile, will look to build on their scoring output while tightening their late-game defense. The 92-88 scoreline will be remembered as a close, competitive basketball game that was settled by composure in the final minutes.
