Jonava secured an 80-67 road victory over Kavkasia in European North Basketball League play on October 28, 2026, using a dominant third quarter to turn a close contest into a comfortable win. The Lithuanian side controlled the defensive glass and executed patiently in the half court, while Kavkasia struggled to find answers after halftime.

Match overview

Kavkasia stayed within striking distance early, but Jonava’s defensive discipline and rebounding advantage gradually wore the hosts down. A strong third-quarter push gave the visitors a double-digit lead, and they protected it comfortably over the final ten minutes.

Key moments

Jonava led 40-34 at halftime and opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run that quickly pushed the advantage into double figures. Kavkasia briefly threatened to rally behind back-to-back baskets from the perimeter, but Jonava closed the period on a 10-3 burst to take a 62-49 lead into the fourth.

Tactical story

Jonava’s half-court defense was the story of the game. The visitors limited penetration, forced Kavkasia into contested jumpers, and controlled the defensive boards. Offensively, Jonava moved the ball through the elbows and attacked the rim when Kavkasia overextended. The hosts, by contrast, settled for too many outside shots and struggled to generate second-chance points.

Standout performers

Jonava guard Tomas Rinkevicius finished with 18 points and six assists, while center Lukas Petrauskas added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Kavkasia’s Giorgi Abuladze was the hosts’ best performer with 20 points and seven rebounds, but his effort was not enough to keep pace with Jonava’s balanced attack.

What it means

Jonava’s win improves their standing in the European North Basketball League and reinforces their reputation as a tough defensive team. Kavkasia will need to improve their shot selection and rebounding ahead of their next ENBL fixture.
