Bristol Academy Flyers produced a disciplined defensive performance to beat BK Liepajas Lauvas 40-28 in the European North Basketball League on October 28, 2026. The visitors controlled the tempo from the opening quarter and never allowed the hosts to find a comfortable offensive rhythm.

Match overview

Bristol led 10-7 after the first quarter, 21-15 at halftime, and 30-21 through three. The Flyers closed the game with another steady defensive stretch, holding Liepajas Lauvas to seven fourth-quarter points. In a low-scoring contest, Bristol’s patience and rebounding proved decisive.

Liepajas Lauvas struggled with turnovers and contested shots throughout. The hosts had brief scoring bursts but could not sustain them, while Bristol kept the game at its preferred pace.

Key moments

The decisive run came late in the second quarter, when Bristol turned a 12-10 lead into a 21-13 advantage with a mix of transition baskets and offensive rebounds. That cushion allowed the visitors to play from ahead and dictate the terms of the game.

Liepajas Lauvas tried to respond in the third quarter, but Bristol’s half-court defense snuffed out the comeback. A pair of timely three-pointers early in the fourth pushed the lead back to double digits and effectively sealed the result.

Tactical story

Bristol’s game plan was built on controlling the paint and forcing Liepajas Lauvas into long, contested possessions. The Flyers rotated well on defense, limited dribble penetration, and cleaned up the defensive glass. Offensively, they were content to work the clock and attack when the defense broke down.

Liepajas Lauvas never found a consistent answer against Bristol’s physicality. The hosts were at their best in transition but too often had to play against a set defense after missed shots. In a game with so few possessions, Bristol’s efficiency and composure stood out.

Season impact

The road win gives Bristol Academy Flyers a valuable result in the European North Basketball League and reinforces its defensive identity. BK Liepajas Lauvas will need to improve ball security and shot selection after a difficult night. Bristol’s ability to win ugly, with defense and rebounding, could serve it well as the competition progresses.
