Zamora Raptors produced a dominant second-half display to beat Piratas de Los Lagos 83-69 in the Ecuador NL on October 22, 2026. The home side turned a tight first half into a comfortable victory with a decisive third-quarter run, pairing efficient inside scoring with aggressive perimeter defense.

Match overview

The opening quarter was competitive, with Piratas de Los Lagos moving the ball well and finding success from beyond the arc. Zamora Raptors stayed close by attacking the paint and drawing fouls, keeping the game balanced. Neither team managed to create separation early, and the first half ended with the Raptors holding only a narrow advantage.

After halftime, the game changed completely. Zamora increased its defensive intensity, forced turnovers, and pushed the pace in transition. The Raptors’ frontcourt controlled the boards, while their guards repeatedly found seams in the Piratas defense.

Key moments

The third quarter was the breaking point. Zamora Raptors opened the period with a sustained run, highlighted by a pair of fast-break dunks and consecutive three-pointers that brought the home crowd into the game. Piratas de Los Lagos called timeout, but the Raptors kept rolling, extending the lead to double digits before the fourth quarter began. Any hopes of a Piratas comeback were quickly snuffed out by Zamora’s disciplined half-court defense.

Standout performers

Mateo Salazar led Zamora Raptors with a strong double-double, controlling the paint and finishing around the rim. His rebounding gave the Raptors extra possessions and allowed them to play with greater freedom on offense. Jhonny Mina was the bright spot for Piratas de Los Lagos, scoring consistently and keeping his team within reach during the first half. Ultimately, however, Zamora’s balanced attack proved too deep.

Tactical story

Zamora Raptors built their win on defensive pressure and rebounding. They contested Piratas’ three-point attempts, forced difficult passes, and converted steals into transition points. Offensively, the Raptors attacked the rim early to soften the defense before kicking out for open threes. Piratas de Los Lagos struggled to match that physicality after halftime and became too reliant on individual shot-making.

Table impact

The 83-69 victory strengthens Zamora Raptors’ position in the Ecuador NL standings and underlines their home-court advantage. For Piratas de Los Lagos, the defeat highlights the need for greater consistency on the defensive glass and better ball security against pressure teams. The Raptors will look to carry this momentum forward, while Piratas will regroup and search for a stronger response in their next outing.
