Wisla Can-Pack Women edged Widzew Lodz Women 77-73 in a hard-fought Basket Liga Kobiet contest on October 17, 2026. The home side used a balanced scoring effort and crucial late-game execution to secure a narrow victory in a game that remained tense until the final possession.

Match overview

The two teams traded blows throughout the first half, with neither side able to establish a significant lead. Wisla held a slim 19-17 advantage after the first quarter, but Widzew responded in the second to tie the game at 37-37 by halftime. The third quarter followed a similar pattern, with Wisla edging ahead 58-55 heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Wisla’s experience showed. The hosts made several key defensive stops and converted free throws down the stretch to hold off a determined Widzew side. The final margin of four points reflected just how tight the contest was, with Widzew missing a potential game-tying shot in the closing seconds.

Key moments

With the score tied at 68-68 and just over three minutes remaining, Wisla forward Anna Kowalska scored on a tough turnaround jumper and then grabbed a crucial offensive rebound on the next possession, leading to two free throws. That four-point swing gave the hosts a cushion they would not relinquish.

Widzew had one final chance to tie after a three-pointer cut the lead to 75-73, but Wisla’s defense forced a contested mid-range attempt that missed. Magdalena Zietara sealed the win with two calm free throws in the final seconds.

Tactical story

Wisla controlled the glass for much of the game, and their second-chance points proved decisive. They also did a better job of getting to the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, converting 12 of 14 attempts in the final period. Defensively, Wisla focused on limiting Widzew’s transition opportunities and forcing them into half-court sets.

Widzew stayed competitive thanks to their three-point shooting and aggressive drives to the basket, but they were hurt by turnovers in key moments and a few missed free throws late. Their effort was strong, but Wisla’s composure in the final two minutes made the difference.
