How the Angels Won It

Overtime in the DBBL is five minutes of pure execution, and the Angels handled it better. They scored ten points in the extra period — a strong return given the defensive intensity on display — and, crucially, made their free throws when Hannover were forced to foul. A contested jump shot in the final thirty seconds gave them the lead for good, and a disciplined defensive stand on the last possession sealed it.

Across the forty-five minutes, the Angels' rebounding on both ends stood out. Second-chance points kept them within touching distance during Hannover's best spells in the second quarter, and their ability to close out defensive possessions with the ball in hand ultimately made the difference in a game decided by a single basket.

Key Moments

• Hannover's 8–0 run late in the second quarter gave them a six-point half-time cushion, their largest lead of the night.
• The Angels opened the third quarter with a 12–4 surge to retake the lead, setting up the back-and-forth finish.
• Hannover levelled the game in the final minute of regulation with a clutch three-pointer to force overtime.
• In overtime, the Angels converted six of their free throws down the stretch to hold on.

Standout Performers

Both teams featured balanced scoring, with several players in double figures on each side. Hannover's guards were aggressive attacking the rim and generated a high number of free-throw attempts, while their post players worked hard on the offensive glass. The Angels' wing rotation provided the game's most efficient shooting, and their point guard controlled the tempo admirably in the extra period, repeatedly finding the right pass against a tiring defence.

What It Means in the DBBL Table

Road wins in the Damen Basketball Bundesliga are hard to come by, and stealing one in overtime against a well-drilled Hannover side is a genuine statement of intent. The result gives the Angels a valuable head-to-head advantage and injects confidence into a squad that has shown it can compete in tight, high-scoring games.

For TK Hannover Women, the defeat is a frustrating one. They led for long stretches, shot well enough to win, and pushed a strong opponent to the limit — but late-game execution and rebounding in the extra period let them down. Both clubs will meet again later in the season, and on this evidence that return fixture promises to be every bit as dramatic.
