ALBA Berlin Women produced a commanding 73-52 road victory over Eisvogel Freiburg Women in the Damen Basketball Bundesliga on October 25, 2026, using pressure defense and balanced scoring to pull away steadily across all four quarters.

Match overview

ALBA led 38-27 at halftime and never allowed Freiburg to mount a serious second-half comeback. The Berlin side controlled the tempo from the opening tip, turning defensive stops into transition chances and forcing Freiburg into difficult half-court possessions. The 21-point margin was the clearest reflection of ALBA’s superiority on both ends.

• First quarter: ALBA 20-14
• Second quarter: ALBA 18-13
• Third quarter: ALBA 19-12
• Fourth quarter: ALBA 16-13
• Final: Eisvogel Freiburg Women 52-73 ALBA Berlin Women

Key moments

The game’s defining run arrived late in the second quarter. Leading 28-22, ALBA closed the half with a 10-5 surge to take a double-digit advantage into the locker room. That burst was fueled by backcourt pressure and two quick transition baskets, and it changed the psychological complexion of the contest. Freiburg briefly threatened early in the third quarter, but ALBA answered with a 12-2 run that pushed the lead beyond 20 and effectively ended the comeback hopes.

Tactical story

ALBA’s full-court pressure was the standout tactical feature. Freiburg struggled to initiate offense cleanly, and ALBA repeatedly turned steals and long rebounds into easy baskets. In the half-court, Berlin moved the ball quickly around the perimeter, attacking closeouts and creating open three-point looks. Freiburg, by contrast, relied heavily on isolation plays and struggled to generate second-chance points against a compact ALBA defense.

The rebounding battle also favored ALBA, who limited Freiburg’s extra possessions and kept the hosts from building any sustained momentum. When Freiburg did break the pressure, ALBA’s rotation defense recovered well enough to contest shots at the rim.

Standout performers

ALBA’s backcourt controlled the game on both ends, setting the tone with on-ball pressure and smart decision-making in transition. Their bench also provided meaningful minutes, maintaining the defensive intensity and helping stretch the lead in the second half. Freiburg’s interior players worked hard on the glass, but the team’s guards were often overwhelmed by ALBA’s pressure and could not find a consistent rhythm.

Standings impact

This is the kind of road win that can shape a season. ALBA Berlin Women leave Freiburg with a convincing result and valuable momentum in the Damen Basketball Bundesliga, while Eisvogel Freiburg Women will need to address their ball-handling and half-court execution before their next outing. The margin also gives ALBA a strong early-season statement in the competitive DBBL landscape.
