Vejen opened with purpose, moving the ball quickly and attacking the paint. A 24-18 first quarter gave the hosts an early cushion, but Vaerlose stayed within reach through the second period. By halftime, Vejen led 46-39, with Vaerlose’s guards finding success from the perimeter and keeping the deficit manageable.

The third quarter changed the game. Vejen outscored Vaerlose 26-17 in the period, pushing the lead to 72-56 heading into the final ten minutes. Vaerlose responded with a better fourth quarter, winning it 24-20, but the gap proved too large to close.

How Vejen Built the Win

Vejen’s offense was at its best when the ball moved through multiple hands. The hosts consistently found open shooters and created second-chance opportunities with aggressive work on the offensive glass. Their transition game also hurt Vaerlose, especially after defensive rebounds and steals.

Defensively, Vejen mixed man-to-man pressure with a compact zone that clogged the middle. That approach forced Vaerlose into several contested three-point attempts and limited easy drives to the basket. When Vaerlose tried to rally in the fourth, Vejen answered with timely baskets and free throws.

Key Moments

• First quarter: Vejen opened with an 8-0 run, setting the tone in front of the home crowd.
• Second quarter: Vaerlose cut the lead to four points behind sharp outside shooting, but Vejen closed the half strongly.
• Third quarter: A 12-2 Vejen surge broke the game open and turned a single-digit lead into a commanding advantage.
• Fourth quarter: Vaerlose trimmed the deficit to 10 points late, but Vejen’s composure at the free-throw line sealed the result.

Tactical Story: Defense and Rebounding

The most important statistical battle came on the boards. Vejen controlled the rebounding edge, which allowed them to run and prevented Vaerlose from getting easy second-chance points. Vejen’s big men also did well to contest shots without fouling, keeping Vaerlose’s scorers off the line for long stretches.

Vaerlose’s half-court offense was at its most effective when they attacked early in the shot clock. When the pace slowed, Vejen’s defense was able to set up and force difficult attempts. Vaerlose’s late push showed fight, but the third-quarter scoring drought ultimately decided the game.
