Horsens IC produced a composed road performance to beat Copenhagen 80-69 in the Danish Basketball League on October 10, 2026, turning a tight opening into a double-digit lead and never allowing the home side to complete a comeback.

The result gives Horsens IC an important early-season win in the Danish Basketball League standings, while Copenhagen are left to review a night that started with promise but slipped away in the second quarter. Horsens’ ability to control pace, protect the defensive glass and answer every Copenhagen run proved to be the difference.

Match overview

Copenhagen opened with good energy in front of their home crowd and briefly matched Horsens basket for basket. The first quarter ended 22-18 in Horsens’ favor, with both teams looking to push the tempo in transition. The visitors then tightened their defense and took command in the second period, outscoring Copenhagen 24-15 to build a 46-33 halftime lead.

Copenhagen responded after the break with a more aggressive third quarter, winning that period 20-18 as their guards attacked the rim and their forwards found space in the mid-range. But Horsens kept their composure, maintained a double-digit cushion for much of the second half and closed out the fourth quarter 16-16 to seal the 80-69 road victory.

Key moments

• Second-quarter surge: Horsens used a 14-2 run midway through the period to turn a close game into a comfortable advantage.
• Half-time control: Holding Copenhagen to 15 second-quarter points gave Horsens the defensive platform they needed.
• Copenhagen’s third-quarter push: The home team cut the deficit to 11, but Horsens answered with timely perimeter shooting.
• Free-throw discipline: Horsens converted their chances at the line in the final five minutes to keep Copenhagen at arm’s length.

Tactical story

Horsens IC won this game with defense and rebounding. They switched aggressively on screens, limited clean looks from the perimeter and forced Copenhagen into difficult contested jump shots. On offense, Horsens shared the ball well and attacked mismatches inside, which helped them score consistently even when the pace slowed.

Copenhagen were at their best when they played fast, but too many empty possessions in the half-court set allowed Horsens to control the rhythm. The home side’s three-point shooting was streaky, and their inability to generate second-chance points made the comeback attempt harder.

Standout players

Horsens’ backcourt set the tone with smart decision-making and timely scoring, while their frontcourt controlled the boards on both ends. The team’s balanced attack meant no single scorer had to carry the load, which is often the mark of a strong road performance in the Danish Basketball League.

For Copenhagen, the leading scorers kept fighting until the final minutes, and their third-quarter effort showed the team’s potential. However, they will need more consistent support from the bench and better execution in late-game situations moving forward.

Standings impact

This 80-69 result is a valuable road win for Horsens IC and strengthens their position in the early Danish Basketball League standings. For Copenhagen, it is a missed opportunity at home, but there is plenty of season left to respond. The head-to-head record now favors Horsens, and the next meeting between these two sides will carry extra significance.
