Copenhagen left Bears Academy with a 78-66 road victory in the Danish Basketball League, using a balanced offensive night and a decisive second-half push to pull away from a young, energetic home side. The win gives Copenhagen an important early-season result away from home, while Bears Academy will take positives from stretches of competitive play but will rue the spells where the offense stalled.

Match overview

The game was played on October 17, 2026, tipping off at 22:30 local time. Bears Academy started with good energy and looked comfortable attacking in transition, but Copenhagen gradually imposed its half-court discipline. The visitors moved the ball well, found open shooters on the perimeter, and did a better job of turning defensive stops into quick points. By the closing quarter, the 12-point margin reflected Copenhagen’s control of the key possessions.

Key moments

The contest’s turning point came in the third quarter, when Copenhagen tightened its defense and forced Bears Academy into contested shots. A run of consecutive baskets — including a transition finish and an open three-pointer — pushed the visitors ahead and forced the home side to chase the game. Bears Academy responded with brief bursts of scoring, but Copenhagen consistently answered, never allowing the deficit to shrink to a single possession for long.

Tactical story

Copenhagen’s half-court offense was the difference. The visitors used patient ball movement to create mismatches inside and kick-out opportunities beyond the arc, and they protected the ball well enough to limit Bears Academy’s transition chances. Bears Academy showed flashes of pressure defense and second-chance energy, but the team’s shooting fell off in the middle quarters. When the home side tried to speed the game up, Copenhagen stayed composed and made the extra pass.

Standout performers

Copenhagen’s backcourt controlled the tempo, combining for timely perimeter shooting and steady decision-making. The frontcourt also made an impact on the glass, giving the visitors extra possessions and limiting Bears Academy’s second-chance opportunities. For Bears Academy, the guard play was the bright spot, creating penetration and drawing fouls, while the team’s interior players competed on the boards despite the unfavorable final score.

Season impact

The result adds a useful road win to Copenhagen’s Danish Basketball League record and reinforces the team’s credentials as a difficult opponent in the standings. For Bears Academy, the loss is a learning moment: the academy side showed competitiveness but needs more consistent offense over four quarters. The next fixtures will test whether Copenhagen can build momentum and whether Bears Academy can convert its energy into a full 40-minute performance.
