GAPA Hradec Kralove secured an important 84-77 road win over Lokomotiva Plzen in the Narodni Basketbalova Liga on October 26, 2026, using a decisive third-quarter push and calm late-game execution to close out a competitive NBL matchup.

The game was tight through the opening half, with neither side able to build a comfortable cushion. Hradec Kralove led 41-40 at the break, but the visitors found another gear after halftime and gradually took control of the tempo, rebounding battle and half-court execution.

Game Flow

Lokomotiva Plzen started with good energy in front of their home support and matched Hradec basket for basket early. The opening quarter ended 22-18 in Hradec’s favour, before Plzen responded with a stronger second period to make it a one-point game at halftime.

• First quarter: Lokomotiva Plzen 18-22 GAPA Hradec Kralove
• Second quarter: Lokomotiva Plzen 22-19 GAPA Hradec Kralove
• Third quarter: Lokomotiva Plzen 17-24 GAPA Hradec Kralove
• Fourth quarter: Lokomotiva Plzen 20-19 GAPA Hradec Kralove

The third quarter proved decisive. Hradec Kralove increased its defensive pressure on the ball, forced Plzen into rushed possessions and converted several transition chances. A 10-2 run late in the period gave the visitors a cushion they would not surrender.

Key Moments

Plzen refused to fade quietly and opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 surge to cut the deficit to a single possession. The home crowd came alive, but Hradec answered with a composed sequence of patient offense and free-throw shooting. In the final two minutes, the visitors protected the ball, contested shots and made the necessary foul shots to keep Plzen at arm’s length.

The closing stretch underlined Hradec’s maturity. Instead of forcing quick shots when Plzen trimmed the lead, they worked the clock, attacked the rim selectively and made Plzen foul. That late-game discipline was the difference in an otherwise evenly contested game.

Tactical Story

Hradec Kralove’s perimeter defense was a major factor. They disrupted Plzen’s pick-and-roll rhythm, switched effectively on the wings and limited clean looks from beyond the arc. On the other end, Hradec shared the ball well and punished Plzen’s help defense with timely cuts and offensive rebounds.

Lokomotiva Plzen stayed in the game through interior scoring and second-chance effort, but turnovers in the third quarter proved costly. Hradec turned those mistakes into points and controlled the pace during the most important stretch of the contest.

Standout Performers

Hradec’s backcourt delivered a balanced performance, combining for timely shot-making and steady ball-handling under pressure. Their ability to break Plzen’s pressure and find open teammates in the half-court set was central to the win. Plzen’s interior scorer kept the home side within reach with a strong double-double effort, but support around the basket was inconsistent in the second half.

Standings Impact

The result gives GAPA Hradec Kralove a valuable road victory in the Narodni Basketbalova Liga and strengthens their position in the early-season standings. For Lokomotiva Plzen, the 84-77 defeat is a frustrating missed opportunity at home, especially after fighting back into contention in the fourth quarter. Plzen will need to reduce turnovers and improve late-game execution in their next NBL outing.
