Decin called timeout but could not stem the tide, as Opava’s active hands in the passing lanes created easy transition baskets. In the fourth, Decin mounted a late charge behind timely outside shooting to cut the deficit to six with under two minutes remaining, but Opava calmly knocked down six straight free throws to ice the game.

Tactical Story

Opava’s switch-heavy defense disrupted Decin’s pick-and-roll offense, forcing the visitors into contested mid-range jumpers. The hosts also dominated the glass, grabbing 11 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second-chance points. Decin tried to counter with a smaller lineup, but Opava’s size on the interior proved decisive. On offense, Opava shared the ball well, registering 18 assists on 30 made field goals, while Decin often settled for isolation plays that stalled their rhythm.

Martin Gniadek added 15 points and 9 rebounds, controlling the paint on both ends. Season Impact

Opava start the Narodni Basketbalova Liga season 1-0 and will look to build momentum in their next fixture. Decin fall to 0-1 and will need to address their third-quarter scoring woes quickly in a competitive league where every possession matters. The head-to-head result gives Opava an early tiebreaker edge should the teams finish close in the standings.
