Lokomotiva Plzen picked up an important road victory on Friday, 16 October 2026, defeating BK Olomoucko 81-72 in a Narodni Basketbalova Liga clash that was decided by a decisive second-half run. In a game played at a lively pace, the visitors' balanced scoring and disciplined half-court defence ultimately wore down a stubborn Olomoucko side that stayed within touching distance for three quarters before fading late.

Match Overview

The opening quarter was a tight, physical affair, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish meaningful separation. Olomoucko's home support gave them energy early, and their willingness to push the ball in transition produced some of the best moments of the first half. Lokomotiva Plzen, though, kept their composure, matching every run with one of their own and heading into the break with the game still very much in the balance.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point. Lokomotiva came out of the locker room with a sharper defensive edge, closing down driving lanes and forcing Olomoucko into difficult, late-clock shots. That defensive intensity translated directly into offence, as the visitors converted stops into quick points and gradually stretched their lead into double figures.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter breakaway: A sustained 14-4 run from Lokomotiva Plzen midway through the third quarter turned a one-possession game into a comfortable cushion.
• Defensive stops: Three consecutive empty possessions for Olomoucko late in the third allowed the visitors to build momentum they never relinquished.
• Fourth-quarter resilience: Olomoucko trimmed the deficit to six with a burst of outside shooting, but Lokomotiva answered immediately on the other end.
• Free-throw execution: The visitors closed the game calmly from the line, denying any late comeback attempt.

Tactical Story

Lokomotiva Plzen's game plan was built on defensive discipline and efficient shot selection. Rather than forcing the issue in transition, the visitors were content to work the ball inside-out, generating high-percentage looks and drawing fouls on Olomoucko's big men. That approach helped them control the tempo of the second half and protect their lead as the game tightened.

Olomoucko, for their part, showed plenty of attacking intent, particularly through dribble penetration and kick-out shooting. The problem was consistency — strong stretches of play were too often followed by scoring droughts, and against a team as organised as Lokomotiva, those dry spells proved decisive.

Standout Performers

Lokomotiva's backcourt dictated proceedings in the second half, controlling the pace and delivering key baskets whenever Olomoucko threatened to close the gap. Their frontcourt also did the dirty work on the glass, limiting second-chance points at crucial moments. For Olomoucko, the effort and intensity were evident throughout, and their perimeter shooting kept the contest alive into the final quarter, but a lack of late-game execution cost them dear.

Season Impact

The result is a valuable road win for Lokomotiva Plzen, one that strengthens their position in the Narodni Basketbalova Liga standings and underlines their credentials as a disciplined, well-coached unit. For BK Olomoucko, the defeat is a missed opportunity on home soil, but the performance offered encouraging signs for the games ahead.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Lokomotiva looking to build on a composed road performance and Olomoucko eager to convert their competitive spells into a full 40-minute display.
