Srsni Pisek secured an important 95-82 road victory over Basketbol Brno in the Narodni Basketbalova Liga, using a decisive second-quarter surge and a steady closing stretch to pull away. Pisek’s balanced offense and timely three-point shooting proved too much for Brno, who fought back but could not close the gap in the final period.

Key moments

The game’s decisive run came midway through the second quarter. With Brno leading by two, Pisek rattled off a 12-2 surge over a three-minute stretch, capped by consecutive three-pointers from the wing. That burst changed the momentum and forced Brno into a chase for the rest of the night.

Brno made a push early in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to five points behind aggressive drives and offensive rebounds. But Pisek responded with an 8-0 run of its own, restoring a double-digit cushion. In the fourth, Brno never got closer than eight points, and Pisek knocked down free throws down the stretch to protect the result.

Tactical story

Pisek’s offense was built on ball movement and spacing. The visitors consistently found open shooters against Brno’s rotations and finished with a strong shooting night from beyond the arc. Their bench also provided a spark, outscoring Brno’s reserves and helping maintain energy on the second night of a busy schedule.

Brno had success attacking the basket, particularly in the first half, but turnovers and missed free throws hurt their comeback chances. Defensively, Brno struggled to contain Pisek’s pick-and-roll action, which repeatedly created mismatches and open looks.

Standout performers

Jakub Švec led Pisek with 23 points and six assists, controlling the game in the backcourt. Marek Dvořák added 17 points and eight rebounds, while Pisek’s perimeter rotation combined for 12 three-pointers. For Brno, Tomáš Novák scored 20 points and Filip Svoboda contributed 14, but the home side lacked enough secondary scoring to complete the comeback.

Season impact

The win strengthens Srsni Pisek’s position in the upper half of the NBL standings and gives the club a valuable road result. Pisek’s ability to win away from home will be crucial as the season progresses. Brno, meanwhile, remains competitive but will need to improve its execution in close games and reduce turnovers if it is to climb the table.

For Brno, the focus shifts to the next fixture and a chance to bounce back. For Pisek, the challenge is to build on a performance that showcased both depth and composure.
