Tres Cantos fell 74-86 to CB Sant Antoni in a fiercely contested Copa del Rey de Baloncesto clash on September 26, 2026. The visitors from Sant Antoni used a dominant third quarter to seize control and never looked back, advancing in the prestigious Spanish cup competition at the expense of a spirited Tres Cantos side.

Match Overview

The opening half was a back-and-forth battle, with Tres Cantos feeding off their home crowd and knocking down tough shots. CB Sant Antoni matched them blow for blow, relying on their inside-outside game to keep the scoreboard ticking. The halftime margin was just three points in favor of Sant Antoni, but the third quarter proved decisive. A combination of defensive adjustments and hot shooting allowed the visitors to build a lead they would protect until the final buzzer.

Key Moments

Trailing 42-39 early in the third, CB Sant Antoni exploded for a 12-0 run that flipped the game on its head. The surge was fueled by three consecutive three-pointers and a pair of steals that led to easy transition baskets. Tres Cantos called timeout, but the damage was done. Every time the home side threatened to cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter, Sant Antoni responded with a clutch basket. A step-back three with two minutes remaining effectively sealed the 86-74 win.

Tactical Story

CB Sant Antoni’s coaching staff made a key adjustment at halftime, switching to a switch-heavy defense that disrupted Tres Cantos’s pick-and-roll timing. That change forced the hosts into isolation plays and contested mid-range jumpers—shots they struggled to convert consistently. Offensively, Sant Antoni attacked the paint relentlessly, drawing fouls and kicking out to open shooters when the defense collapsed. Tres Cantos fought hard on the offensive glass, but their inability to contain dribble penetration proved costly. The free-throw disparity also favored the visitors, who converted their opportunities at a higher rate.

Standout Players

• CB Sant Antoni: Their point guard was the engine, finishing with a double-double of points and assists while controlling the tempo. The center dominated the paint with a near double-double, and a sharpshooting forward came off the bench to hit four crucial three-pointers.
• Tres Cantos: Their shooting guard kept them in the game with a team-high scoring performance, and the power forward recorded a double-double. However, foul trouble limited the minutes of their starting center, which hurt their interior defense.

Season Impact

The victory propels CB Sant Antoni deeper into the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto, where they will face another tough opponent in the next round. For Tres Cantos, the cup exit is a bitter pill, but they can now focus fully on their league campaign. The two teams may meet again in league play later this season, and Tres Cantos will be eager for revenge. For now, Sant Antoni celebrate a well-deserved road win.
