Lucentum Alicante secured a 91-83 victory over Hestia Menorca in the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto on October 21, 2026, riding a strong first quarter and a composed closing stretch to protect their advantage at home. The win gives Alicante a valuable cup result and reinforces their reputation as a team capable of controlling games with balanced scoring and disciplined defense.

The hosts set the tone immediately, racing to a 27-21 lead after the first quarter. Lucentum’s guards pushed the pace and found early success from beyond the arc, while Menorca struggled to contain dribble penetration. The second quarter was tighter, with Alicante adding a 20-19 edge to take a 47-40 lead into halftime. Menorca stayed within striking distance thanks to timely three-point shooting and a handful of second-chance points, but they could not string together enough stops to erase the deficit.

Second-Half Control

The third quarter followed a similar pattern. Both teams traded baskets for long stretches, but Lucentum’s ability to answer every Menorca run kept the visitors from building real momentum. A 23-22 quarter advantage pushed the lead to 70-62 entering the final period, and Alicante’s half-court execution in the closing minutes proved enough to close out the win.

Menorca’s best spell came midway through the fourth, when a quick 7-0 run trimmed the gap and forced Lucentum into a timeout. The response was immediate: Alicante returned to their interior game, drew fouls and converted at the line. From there, the hosts slowed the tempo and made Menorca work deep into the shot clock on each possession.

Standout Players

Nico Ferrer led Lucentum with 24 points, mixing aggressive drives with reliable perimeter shooting. Ivan Prats added 16 points and several key defensive plays, while the bench provided valuable minutes in the second half. For Hestia Menorca, Marc Vives finished with 21 points and kept his side in contention, but the visitors lacked the same balance across all four quarters.

The rebounding battle also favored Alicante, particularly on the offensive end, where extra possessions helped offset a few dry spells from the field. Menorca’s defensive effort improved after halftime, but the early deficit and foul trouble in the frontcourt made the comeback difficult.

Cup Context and Season Impact

In Copa del Rey de Baloncesto play, every game carries extra weight, and Lucentum Alicante’s 91-83 win is exactly the kind of performance that builds momentum. It shows the team can win in different ways: fast early, patient late, and defensively focused when the game tightens. For Hestia Menorca, the result offers clear lessons about starting stronger and limiting easy baskets in transition.

Alicante’s scoring balance was particularly encouraging, with multiple players contributing in double figures and the bench avoiding the kind of drop-off that can swing cup ties. The 91-point total reflects an offense that shared the ball well and attacked the right matchups. Menorca, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their resilience but will need a more complete four-quarter effort in their next outing.
