The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto delivered a thriller in Jaén, where Jaen CB edged UDEA Algeciras 103-100 in a high-scoring contest that came down to the final possessions. In a game that featured 203 combined points, neither side was able to build a comfortable cushion, and the home crowd was treated to one of the most entertaining finishes of the early Spanish cup calendar.

Match Overview

From the opening tip, it was clear this would be a track meet rather than a defensive grind. Jaen CB came out with intent, pushing the pace in transition and attacking the rim early, while UDEA Algeciras answered with patient half-court execution and timely three-point shooting. The lead changed hands repeatedly across the first two quarters, with neither team able to string together more than a short run.

By halftime, the game had settled into a rhythm of traded baskets, and the scoreboard reflected the even nature of the contest. Jaen CB leaned on its home support to edge ahead in the third quarter, but Algeciras refused to fold, clawing back with a flurry of perimeter shots that kept the margin within a single possession heading into the closing minutes.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter surge: Jaen CB opened the second half with a quick run, briefly stretching the lead to double digits behind aggressive drives and second-chance points.
• Algeciras response: UDEA Algeciras answered with back-to-back three-pointers to erase the deficit and swing momentum back in their favor.
• Crunch time: With the game tied in the final minute, Jaen CB converted key free throws and forced a late turnover to seal the win.
• Final possession: Needing a three to force overtime, Algeciras got a clean look but saw the attempt rim out, handing Jaen CB the victory.

Tactical Story

Jaen CB's game plan revolved around pace and penetration. Their guards repeatedly broke down the first line of defense, drawing help and kicking out to open shooters, which kept Algeciras scrambling in rotation. On the glass, Jaen CB's energy generated extra possessions that proved decisive in a game decided by a single basket.

UDEA Algeciras, meanwhile, were efficient in the half court, using ball movement and off-ball screens to manufacture open looks from beyond the arc. Their three-point shooting kept them within striking distance all night, but a handful of untimely turnovers and missed free throws in the fourth quarter ultimately proved costly.

Standout Performers

For Jaen CB, the backcourt set the tone, combining for a large share of the team's scoring while controlling tempo in the decisive stretches. Inside, their frontcourt battled hard on the boards, turning offensive rebounds into crucial second-chance points. Algeciras got strong production from their perimeter shooters, who kept the visitors alive with clutch shot-making, and their interior players competed throughout despite foul trouble.

What It Means

The win gives Jaen CB a valuable result in the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto, reinforcing their home-court strength and momentum in the competition. For UDEA Algeciras, the narrow defeat is a frustrating one, but the performance — pushing a strong home side to the wire on the road — offers plenty of encouragement for the fixtures ahead. In a tournament where margins are thin, this three-point decision could prove significant when the bracket takes shape.
