Movistar Estudiantes defeated Granada 86-76 in Copa del Rey de Baloncesto play on October 21, 2026, advancing with a composed road performance built on defense and timely shot-making.

Granada stayed within striking distance for long stretches, but Estudiantes gradually took control by winning the rebound battle and limiting easy looks in the second half. The visitors’ depth and experience showed in the closing minutes, when they repeatedly answered Granada’s runs with baskets of their own.

Match Overview

The opening quarter was played at a fast pace, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish a durable lead. Estudiantes began to separate in the second period by tightening its half-court defense and forcing Granada into contested jump shots. Granada remained competitive behind its guards, but the visitors’ balanced scoring made them difficult to contain.

Key Moments

The decisive sequence arrived midway through the fourth quarter. With Granada within five points, Estudiantes produced a quick 8-2 run that pushed the lead into double digits. Granada called timeout to regroup, but the visitors’ defensive pressure forced two costly turnovers and a hurried shot on the next few possessions. From there, Estudiantes managed the clock and converted enough free throws to close out the win.

Tactical Story

Estudiantes controlled the glass and used extra possessions to wear down Granada’s defense. The visitors also did a strong job of closing out on Granada’s perimeter shooters, forcing the hosts to work harder for clean looks. Granada’s own turnovers in the fourth quarter were especially damaging, as Estudiantes turned defense into transition points when the game was still in the balance.

Standout Performers

Estudiantes’ balanced attack was the story, with multiple players contributing in double figures and the bench providing important minutes. Granada’s leading scorers kept the hosts alive, but the team lacked the same late-game efficiency. Estudiantes’ veteran decision-making in the final five minutes stood out.

Competition Impact

The win moves Movistar Estudiantes forward in the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto, while Granada exits after a competitive showing. For Estudiantes, the performance offers a useful blend of defensive discipline and clutch execution as the cup schedule progresses.
