CE Bisbal Basquet produced a composed road performance to defeat CB Prat Joventut 79-71 in the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto, turning a tight contest into a valuable away victory with a strong closing stretch. The eight-point margin was built on efficient shooting, disciplined defence and a fourth quarter in which the visitors consistently made the bigger plays.

Match Overview

The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto meeting on 27 September 2026 brought together two Catalan sides with contrasting styles. CB Prat Joventut, long respected for their player development and structured offence, hosted a Bisbal team known for its physicality and competitive edge. In a competition where single-game outcomes carry extra weight, both sides understood the importance of the result, and the intensity matched the occasion.

How the Game Unfolded

The opening quarter was a cagey, tactical affair. Prat moved the ball patiently and looked to exploit mismatches inside, while Bisbal answered with aggressive drives and timely outside shooting. Neither team could establish a significant lead, with the first period ending essentially level and both benches contributing early minutes.

The second quarter brought more rhythm. Bisbal began to find success in transition, pushing the ball after Prat's missed attempts and converting before the defence could set. Prat responded through their half-court execution, generating good looks from the perimeter, but their shooting was inconsistent and they left points at the free-throw line.

The third quarter was the most competitive stretch of the night, with the lead changing hands multiple times. Prat's defensive pressure briefly disrupted Bisbal's flow, and the home crowd sensed an opportunity. But Bisbal's composure under pressure stood out, and they entered the final period with a narrow advantage.

In the fourth quarter, Bisbal took control. A series of well-executed offensive possessions, combined with stops at the defensive end, pushed the lead into double digits. Prat fought back with quick baskets, but Bisbal managed the clock intelligently, knocked down their free throws and closed out the win without allowing a late scare.

Key Factors in Bisbal's Win

• Fourth-quarter execution: Bisbal scored efficiently in the clutch, while Prat's offence stalled at the worst possible time.
• Transition scoring: The visitors capitalised on Prat's missed shots with fast-break points that proved decisive.
• Free-throw disparity: Bisbal converted their chances at the line, while Prat left valuable points unclaimed.
• Defensive rebounding: Limiting Prat's second-chance opportunities kept the home side from building any sustained momentum.

Standout Performances

Bisbal's backcourt was central to the result, controlling tempo in the closing minutes and hitting key shots when Prat threatened to rally. Their forwards contributed on the glass and defended the paint with physicality. For CB Prat Joventut, there were encouraging individual displays, particularly from their perimeter players, but the team's overall shooting consistency and late-game decision-making let them down on the night.

Tournament Context

The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto is a competition that rewards teams capable of performing under pressure, and Bisbal's road win is exactly the kind of result that can shape a run in the bracket. Beating a well-drilled opponent like Prat away from home underlines Bisbal's credentials and gives them momentum heading into their next cup fixture. For Prat, the defeat is a frustrating one given how competitive they were for three quarters, and it leaves them needing strong performances in their remaining games to keep their ambitions alive.

What's Next

CE Bisbal Basquet will look to build on this result, with their fourth-quarter composure now a clear strength of their cup campaign. CB Prat Joventut will review a game they could easily have won, focusing on shot selection and late-game execution as they prepare for their next outing.
