Prat Joventut was forced to call timeout, but the momentum had already shifted. Ourense closed the third period with a 79-64 advantage and never allowed the home side to bring the deficit back under 12 points in the final quarter.

Tactical story

Ourense’s offensive execution was the story of the night. The visitors moved the ball quickly, attacked closeouts and generated open looks from beyond the arc. They also won the offensive rebounding battle, creating second-chance points that hurt Prat Joventut at key moments. Defensively, Ourense disrupted Prat’s half-court rhythm and forced enough turnovers to fuel their transition game. Prat Joventut had spells of good offense, but they could not match Ourense’s consistency over 40 minutes.

Standout players

Ourense guard Diego Alvarez led the way with 24 points and six assists, controlling the pace and hitting several important shots during the third-quarter surge. Forward Ruben Costa added 19 points and eight rebounds, while center Miguel Santos contributed 14 points and nine boards inside. Prat Joventut’s Pau Ferrer scored 18 points and kept his team within reach early, but the home side lacked the same depth of scoring support.

Season impact

The victory sends Ourense through in the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto and strengthens their reputation as a dangerous cup side. Prat Joventut exit with a difficult lesson about sustaining defensive intensity against high-paced opponents. Ourense will now look to carry the same ball movement and rebounding edge into their next cup assignment, while Prat must refocus on league form after a demanding night.
