Alcamo Too Sharp on the Road as Vicenza Fall 73-62 in Club Friendship Clash

Basket Alcamo Woman produced one of their most controlled road performances of the Club Friendship calendar, beating Vicenza Women 73-62 in a game they led almost from start to finish. Played in front of a lively home crowd at the Vicenza sports hall, the contest was decided by the Sicilians' superior shooting efficiency and a decisive third-quarter surge that turned a competitive game into a comfortable double-digit win.

The final score of 73-62 flatters neither side. Vicenza competed hard on the boards and kept the margin inside single digits for long stretches, but Alcamo's ball movement and ability to punish turnovers proved the difference in the closing 15 minutes.

• Fixture: Vicenza Women vs Basket Alcamo Woman
• Final score: Vicenza Women 62 – 73 Basket Alcamo Woman

Alcamo opened with purpose, pushing the tempo early and getting into the paint before Vicenza's half-court defence could settle. That early aggression set the tone for the night: the visitors scored consistently in transition, and whenever Vicenza clawed back within a couple of possessions, Alcamo answered with a well-worked set play.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

The scoring pattern tells the story of a game Alcamo controlled without ever fully running away with it until late.

• Q1: Vicenza 14 – 19 Alcamo
• Q2: Vicenza 17 – 20 Alcamo
• Q3: Vicenza 16 – 18 Alcamo
• Q4: Vicenza 15 – 16 Alcamo
• Final: Vicenza 62 – 73 Alcamo

Alcamo won every single quarter, a rare feat in a fixture this competitive and a testament to their consistency across all four periods. The visitors never allowed a momentum swing to run against them for more than a few minutes at a time.

Key Moments

The first significant break came midway through the opening quarter, when Alcamo converted three consecutive possessions into points to stretch the lead to seven. Vicenza responded well in the second period, using their interior size to draw fouls and slow the game down, but a late Alcamo three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer restored a six-point cushion and sent the visitors into the locker room with the psychological edge.

The decisive passage arrived in the third quarter. Alcamo opened the second half with an 8-2 run, forcing Vicenza into a timeout and effectively ending the hosts' hopes of a comeback. From that point on, the Sicilians managed the game maturely, running the shot clock down and taking high-percentage attempts rather than forcing the issue.

Tactical Story

Alcamo's game plan was built on defensive pressure at the point of attack. By disrupting Vicenza's entry passes, they limited the home side's ability to establish a rhythm in the half court and generated several easy points in transition. Their rebounding guards also helped neutralise Vicenza's size advantage on the defensive glass, turning potential second-chance opportunities into quick outlets the other way.

Vicenza's biggest problem was shot selection. Individually there were bright moments, but collectively the hosts settled for contested mid-range attempts far too often, particularly in the third quarter when the game was still within reach. Against a team as disciplined as Alcamo, that inefficiency proved costly.

Standout Performers

Alcamo's backcourt dictated the tempo throughout, combining patient half-court organisation with the willingness to attack the rim when the lane opened up. Their leading scorer was the game's most reliable outlet whenever the offence stalled, while the frontcourt contributed valuable work on the offensive boards that extended possessions at key moments.

For Vicenza, the performance was not without positives. Their best stretch came in the second quarter, when aggressive drives and strong work on the low block briefly made it a one-possession game. That spells the blueprint for the games ahead: more penetration, less hesitation.

What the Result Means

The win strengthens Basket Alcamo Woman's position in the Club Friendship standings and underlines their credentials as one of the more complete sides in the competition. Road victories of this nature — controlled, disciplined, never truly in doubt after the break — are exactly what separates contenders from the rest.

For Vicenza Women, the 62-73 defeat is a reminder of how narrow the margins are at this level. They competed for three quarters and lost b
