Slovan Bratislava Women endured a difficult evening at home in the Club Friendship competition, falling 41-88 to a relentless Mitteldeutscher BC (W) side on 18 September 2026. The German visitors dominated from the opening tip and never allowed the Slovak hosts to settle, turning the game into a one-sided affair long before the final buzzer.

Match Overview

The fixture, played in front of a spirited home crowd in Bratislava, was expected to be a competitive cross-border clash between two clubs with contrasting styles. Instead, Mitteldeutscher BC delivered a statement performance, combining suffocating defense with efficient outside shooting. The visitors led 24-9 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 48-19 by halftime, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Slovan Bratislava Women struggled to find any offensive rhythm against a switched-on MBC defense that rotated quickly and closed down driving lanes. The hosts managed just 41 points for the game, their lowest output of the young Club Friendship season, while the away side cruised past the 80-point mark with ease.

How the Game Unfolded

The tone was set in the opening minutes. Mitteldeutscher BC raced to a 10-0 lead behind back-to-back three-pointers and a pair of fast-break layups. Slovan’s first field goal came nearly four minutes in, and by then the visitors had already established a double-digit cushion. MBC’s full-court pressure forced a string of early turnovers, which were converted into easy points at the other end.

The second quarter offered little respite. MBC’s bench contributed immediately, with sharp ball movement leading to open corner threes. A 14-2 run midway through the period pushed the lead to 30 points. Slovan showed brief signs of life with a small 6-0 spurt, but MBC answered with a buzzer-beating jumper to take a 48-19 advantage into the locker room.

After the break, the pattern continued. The visitors maintained their intensity on defense, limiting Slovan to contested mid-range shots and second-chance opportunities that rarely fell. MBC’s transition game was particularly punishing, as they repeatedly beat the hosts down the floor for layups. The fourth quarter was played at a slower pace, but the outcome was never in doubt.

Key Moments

• First quarter, 7:12: MBC opens with an 8-0 run, capped by a transition three from the wing.
• Second quarter, 4:45: A 14-2 surge stretches the lead to 30 points and effectively ends the contest.
• Third quarter, 8:30: Slovan’s best sequence—a steal and a fast-break layup—cuts the deficit to 25, but MBC responds with seven unanswered points.
• Fourth quarter, 6:10: The visitors knock down three consecutive triples to push the margin beyond 45 points.

Tactical Story

Mitteldeutscher BC’s game plan was clear: pressure the ball, deny easy entry passes, and attack in transition. Their guards picked up Slovan’s ball-handlers in the backcourt, forcing a total of 22 turnovers. Those turnovers directly led to 31 points for the visitors. On offense, MBC spread the floor with four shooters, creating driving lanes for their perimeter players and open looks from beyond the arc. They finished the game with 14 three-pointers on 36 attempts, a respectable 38.9% clip.

Slovan Bratislava Women, by contrast, struggled against length and speed. Their half-court offense often bogged down, relying on isolation plays that ended in difficult shots. The hosts shot just 28% from the field and were out-rebounded 46-29. Second-chance points were scarce, and their three-point shooting (4-of-21) never allowed them to mount a serious comeback.

Standout Players

Mitteldeutscher BC (W): The backcourt duo of Lena Hoffmann and Maria Krüger set the tone. Hoffmann led all scorers with 22 points, including four three-pointers, while Krüger added 17 points and 7 assists. Forward Anna Weber controlled the paint with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and reserve guard Sophie Lehmann provided a spark off the bench with 11 points in just 15 minutes.

Slovan Bratislava Women: Despite the heavy defeat, captain Petra Nováková fought hard, finishing with a team-high 13 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Zuzana Kováčová added 9 points but was hounded into five turnovers. The hosts will need more balanced scoring if they are to bounce back in their next Club Friendship fixture.

Season Impact

The win lifts Mitteldeutscher BC to a strong position in the Club Friendship standings, reinforcing their reputation as one of the competition’s most dangerous offensive teams. For Slovan Bratislava Women, the defeat is a setback, but with plenty
