Regatas de San Nicolas delivered one of their most convincing road performances of the Club Friendship season on Sunday, dismantling Santa Paula de Galvez 95-76 in a game they controlled from the opening quarter and never let slip. The 19-point margin flatters the home side, who trailed by as many as 27 in the third period before a late flurry of scoring made the final scoreline more respectable than the contest itself.

The win strengthens Regatas' position near the top of the Club Friendship standings, while Santa Paula de Galvez are left to examine a defensive performance that allowed their opponents to shoot comfortably from the perimeter and dominate the paint on second-chance opportunities.

• Competition: Club Friendship
• Date: 5 October 2026
• Final Score: Santa Paula de Galvez 76 – 95 Regatas de San Nicolas

Regatas set the tone early with aggressive ball pressure and a willingness to push the pace in transition. Santa Paula de Galvez struggled to find rhythm against the visiting defense in the first half, settling for contested jump shots and turning the ball over on several rushed possessions. By the time the home team adjusted, the deficit had already grown into double digits.

How the Game Unfolded

The opening quarter belonged almost entirely to Regatas de San Nicolas. A quick burst of perimeter shooting and a handful of easy baskets in transition gave the visitors an early cushion, and Santa Paula de Galvez were forced to chase from the outset. The home side's half-court offense looked static, with too much isolation play and not enough ball movement to break down a well-organized Regatas defense.

The second quarter brought more of the same. Regatas kept the tempo high, rotating their bench without losing intensity, and extended the lead steadily. Santa Paula de Galvez showed flashes of the form that has made them competitive at home this season, but every mini-run was answered immediately at the other end. By halftime, the visitors had established full control of the game.

The third quarter was the decisive stretch. Regatas opened with a sustained scoring run that pushed the margin past 20 points, forcing the home coaching staff into multiple timeouts and lineup changes. Santa Paula de Galvez found some offensive traction late in the period, but the defensive problems persisted — too many open looks from beyond the arc and too many second-chance points conceded on the offensive glass.

To their credit, the home side did not fold entirely. The fourth quarter saw Santa Paula de Galvez play with more freedom, stringing together their best offensive stretch of the night and trimming the deficit. But Regatas managed the closing minutes professionally, slowed the tempo, protected the ball, and closed out the win without drama.

Standout Performances

Regatas de San Nicolas got production from across their rotation, which is exactly what has made them a difficult matchup all season. Their backcourt controlled the pace of the game, consistently beating the first line of defense and creating open shots for teammates. Inside, the visitors won the rebounding battle and converted those extra possessions into points — a statistic that explains much of the 19-point gap.

For Santa Paula de Galvez, the night was a frustrating one individually as well as collectively. Their leading scorers had to work hard for every basket, and a handful of key contributors spent significant time in foul trouble, limiting the team's ability to mount a serious comeback. The home bench provided some energy in the second half, but the game had already been decided by then.

Tactical Story of the Match

The difference between the two teams came down to efficiency at both ends of the floor. Regatas de San Nicolas generated higher-percentage shots by attacking the rim early in possessions and kicking out to shooters when the defense collapsed. Santa Paula de Galvez, by contrast, relied heavily on individual creation and long two-point attempts — the least efficient shot in modern basketball.

Defensively, Regatas' switching scheme disrupted the home team's pick-and-roll game. Santa Paula de Galvez repeatedly tried to attack mismatches inside, but the visiting help defense rotated quickly and forced difficult finishes. On the boards, Regatas' size and physicality told the story, with multiple offensive rebounds extending possessions and draining the home side's energy.
