The home side delivered a composed performance from start to finish, using a decisive second-quarter run and a disciplined fourth-quarter closeout to secure the win in front of their supporters. The final score reflects a game that was competitive for long stretches, but Regatas’ balance, rebounding, and late-game execution ultimately made the difference.

Match Overview

The game tipped off at 09:00 and quickly settled into a physical, half-court battle. Deportivo Norte started with energy on the defensive end, contesting early shots and pushing the pace in transition. Regatas de San Nicolas absorbed that initial pressure, then began to control the tempo through their half-court offense. By the end of the first quarter, the hosts held a narrow 18-16 advantage.

The second quarter proved to be the defining period of the contest. Regatas opened with a 9-2 surge, forcing Deportivo Norte into difficult contested jumpers and converting defensive stops into quick points at the other end. That run helped the home team build a double-digit cushion before Deportivo Norte responded with a few timely baskets before halftime. Regatas went into the locker room leading 40-33.

Deportivo Norte came out of the break with renewed intensity. Their perimeter shooting improved, and they attacked the offensive glass to create second-chance opportunities. A 20-point third quarter brought them back into the game, trimming the deficit to 59-53 heading into the final period. However, Regatas de San Nicolas never surrendered the lead, answering every push with steady execution on both ends.

• Second-quarter surge: A 9-2 run early in the second quarter gave the home team its first serious separation. The sequence was built on back-to-back defensive stops and efficient ball movement.
• Deportivo Norte’s third-quarter response: The visitors cut the lead to single digits behind improved three-point shooting and aggressive drives to the rim, making it a 59-53 game entering the fourth.

Tactical Story

Regatas de San Nicolas won this game with defense and balance. They protected the paint, limited easy transition baskets, and forced Deportivo Norte into a high volume of contested perimeter shots. On offense, Regatas moved the ball patiently, exploited mismatches inside, and consistently found open cutters against a Deportivo Norte defense that struggled to rotate in time.

Deportivo Norte’s best stretches came when they played with pace. Their guards pushed the ball after misses, and their wings knocked down open looks from beyond the arc. But those stretches were not sustained often enough. When the game slowed into half-court possessions, Deportivo Norte had trouble generating clean looks, and their offense became too dependent on individual shot creation.

The rebounding battle also favored Regatas, especially on the defensive glass. By limiting second-chance points in the first half, the home team prevented Deportivo Norte from building any early rhythm. In the fourth quarter, Regatas’ half-court discipline and clock management were the decisive factors, as they consistently turned good possessions into points or free throws.

Standout Players

Regatas de San Nicolas placed four players in double figures, a reflection of their unselfish offense. Their starting shooting guard led the way with 19 points, mixing mid-range jumpers with aggressive attacks off the dribble. The point guard added 14 points and 8
