In a preseason friendly played under the "Club Friendship" banner, Pallacanestro Reggiana defeated Tezenis Verona 77–69, closing out a competitive contest with a strong fourth-quarter finish. The Italian sides traded runs for three quarters before the hosts pulled clear in the final minutes, delivering a useful workout for both rosters ahead of their respective league campaigns.

Match Overview

Friendly fixtures between Italian clubs are rarely about the scoreline alone, and this meeting was no exception. Reggiana used the game to test rotations and integrate new faces, while Verona arrived with a clear intent to compete physically and test its defensive schemes against a higher-level opponent.

The result was an entertaining, physical game. Neither side managed to break away for much of the evening, and the lead changed hands several times before Reggiana's execution in the closing stretch proved the difference.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Reggiana 19 – 17 Verona
• Second quarter: Reggiana 21 – 16 Verona
• Third quarter: Reggiana 18 – 20 Verona
• Fourth quarter: Reggiana 19 – 16 Verona
• Final score: Pallacanestro Reggiana 77 – 69 Tezenis Verona

Key Moments

Reggiana's most productive stretch came late in the second quarter, when a series of defensive stops translated into transition points and pushed the lead to nine at halftime. Verona answered immediately after the break, opening the third period with a determined run that trimmed the deficit to a single possession and briefly silenced the home crowd.

The game's decisive phase arrived in the final six minutes. With the score tight, Reggiana's half-court offense found a rhythm through interior passing and timely three-point shooting, while their defense forced Verona into contested, late-clock attempts. A pair of free throws and a fast-break basket in the last two minutes sealed the result.

Tactical Story

Reggiana's advantage came on the defensive end. Their ability to switch screens and contest the perimeter limited Verona's clean looks from beyond the arc, forcing the visitors into mid-range and interior attempts against size. On offense, Reggiana leaned on ball movement and second-chance opportunities, generating high-percentage shots late in possessions.

Verona's performance offered plenty of positives despite the loss. The visitors were aggressive on the offensive glass and showed the ability to score in bunches when their guards attacked downhill. Their third-quarter surge demonstrated resilience, but turnovers in the fourth quarter and a cold shooting spell in the closing minutes cost them the chance to steal the game.

Standout Performers

Reggiana received balanced contributions across the rotation, with their guards controlling tempo and their frontcourt anchoring the defense and cleaning the boards. The bench provided meaningful minutes without a significant drop in intensity — an encouraging sign in a preseason setting where coaches typically spread minutes widely.

For Tezenis Verona, the backcourt was the engine, pushing pace and creating penetration that repeatedly put pressure on Reggiana's interior defense. Their fight on the offensive glass kept the game close through three quarters, even as the shooting cooled in the final period.

What It Means

For Pallacanestro Reggiana, the win is a confidence boost and a validation of preseason work on the defensive end. Friendlies of this kind are judged less on the final margin and more on execution, conditioning, and the clarity of team identity — all of which looked solid in a 77–69 result.

For Tezenis Verona, the game offers a clear checklist: better ball security under pressure, more consistent perimeter shooting, and continued chemistry building within the rotation. A competitive showing against a strong Italian opponent is a useful building block, even in defeat.

Both clubs will continue their preseason preparations with fixtures designed to sharpen rotations before competitive league basketball resumes.
