Chien Hsin University defeated National Taiwan Sport University 82-69 in a Club Friendship basketball matchup on October 22, 2026, using a decisive second-half run to pull away in a game that was competitive for long stretches. The 13-point margin reflects Chien Hsin’s superior rebounding and transition execution, while NTSU were left to rue a cold stretch after halftime.

Match overview

The opening quarter was fast and evenly matched, with Chien Hsin taking a 20-17 lead after ten minutes. NTSU responded well in the second period, matching Chien Hsin’s intensity and keeping the deficit manageable. At halftime, Chien Hsin held a 39-35 advantage, with neither side able to establish full control.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point. Chien Hsin tightened its defense, forced turnovers, and converted those mistakes into quick baskets. A 12-0 run midway through the period broke the game open and gave Chien Hsin a double-digit cushion. NTSU fought back in the fourth, but Chien Hsin answered every surge with timely shot-making and free throws.

Key moments

With the score at 45-41 early in the third quarter, Chien Hsin produced the decisive stretch of the game. Back-to-back steals led to layups, and a corner three extended the lead to 54-41. NTSU called timeout, but the momentum had shifted. Chien Hsin’s guards controlled the tempo from that point, and NTSU were forced to chase the game instead of playing through their half-court sets.

Tactical story

Chien Hsin won the game on the glass and in transition. Their forwards crashed the offensive boards aggressively, creating second-chance points that hurt NTSU’s defensive structure. Defensively, Chien Hsin switched effectively on screens and limited clean looks from the perimeter, forcing NTSU into contested mid-range attempts.

NTSU were at their best when they played through the post and kicked out to open shooters, but those possessions became too rare after halftime. Chien Hsin’s bench also provided a spark, maintaining energy and defensive pressure while the starters rested. That depth advantage proved important in the closing minutes.

Standout players

• Wei-Che Lin (Chien Hsin University): Led all scorers with 22 points, including several key baskets during the third-quarter run.

• Yu-Hsuan Chen (National Taiwan Sport University): Finished with 19 points and kept NTSU within striking distance in the first half.
• Chia-Wei Tsai (National Taiwan Sport University): Added 12 points and six assists, though he was pressured into several turnovers late.

Tournament impact

The 82-69 win gives Chien Hsin University a strong result in the Club Friendship competition and reinforces their reputation as a disciplined, balanced side. For National Taiwan Sport University, the loss offers clear areas for improvement: defensive rebounding, transition defense, and half-court patience when the pace slows. Both teams will take valuable lessons from the matchup as the tournament progresses, but Chien Hsin leave with the scoreboard and the momentum.
