Flamengo produced a controlled, professional display to defeat Pitagoras Minas 77-62 in their Club Friendship league clash, extending a strong run of form with a victory built on defensive pressure and balanced scoring. A fifteen-point margin reflected a game in which Flamengo led for virtually the entire evening.

Match Overview

Flamengo set the tone early, dictating pace and forcing Pitagoras Minas into a series of difficult, contested possessions. Their half-court defence was compact and communicative, and on the offensive end they moved the ball with genuine patience, repeatedly finding the open man against a Minas defence that struggled to rotate quickly enough.

Pitagoras Minas showed flashes of quality, particularly in transition, but they were never able to string together enough stops to genuinely threaten the lead.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First Quarter: Flamengo 20-14 — a fast, confident start with early three-point success.
• Second Quarter: Flamengo 19-16 — Minas steadied, but the gap held steady.
• Third Quarter: Flamengo 21-15 — the defining stretch as Flamengo pulled clear.
• Fourth Quarter: 17-17 — Minas matched their hosts late, but the game was already settled.

Key Moments

The pivotal passage came in the third quarter, when Flamengo turned a single-digit advantage into a commanding one. A pair of steals at midcourt led directly to easy baskets, and a corner three moments later forced Pitagoras Minas into a timeout they could not recover from.

Minas' best spell arrived early in the fourth, when a quick 6-0 burst briefly reduced the deficit. Flamengo responded with composure rather than panic, slowing the tempo and converting at the free-throw line to snuff out any hope of a comeback.

Tactical Story

Flamengo's game plan was clear and executed with discipline: protect the paint, force Minas into mid-range and perimeter shots, and attack the offensive glass. Their rebounding edge gave them a steady supply of second-chance points, while their ball movement consistently created open looks from beyond the arc.

Pitagoras Minas, by contrast, relied heavily on individual creation. When those isolations failed to produce efficient shots, their offence stalled, and Flamengo's transition game punished them repeatedly.

Standout Performers

• Flamengo – point guard play: Excellent tempo control, finishing with a strong assist-to-turnover ratio.
• Flamengo – frontcourt: Dominant on the boards and efficient around the rim, setting the physical tone.
• Flamengo – bench: Meaningful contributions that maintained intensity when starters rested.
• Pitagoras Minas: Showed resilience and shooting touch in spurts, but lacked consistent support around the ball-handler.

Season Impact

This win strengthens Flamengo's position in the Club Friendship standings and reinforces their credentials as one of the competition's more complete teams. Winning by double digits while getting production from the bench is exactly the kind of performance that matters in a long season.

For Pitagoras Minas, the result is a reminder that talent alone is not enough — they will need better spacing, quicker defensive rotations, and more consistent secondary scoring if they are to climb the table. On this evidence, Flamengo are the side moving in the right direction.
