Elitzur Shomron claimed a hard-fought 82-79 road victory over Elizzur Maccabi Netanya in Club Friendship action on September 27, 2026, surviving a tense final minute in which the hosts had two chances to tie the game. It was a win built on late-game composure and a rebounding advantage that proved decisive down the stretch.

Match Overview

The game was everything a neutral could want: fast-paced, closely fought, and undecided until the final possession. Neither team led by more than nine points at any stage, and the lead changed hands repeatedly through the first three quarters. Elitzur Shomron's ability to execute in the half court during crunch time ultimately separated the sides.

Elizzur Maccabi Netanya will feel they let a winnable home fixture slip. The hosts shot the ball well from the perimeter and controlled the tempo for long stretches, but a cold spell in the fourth quarter and a handful of missed free throws in the closing minutes proved costly.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: A rapid, open start with both teams comfortable trading baskets. Elizzur Maccabi Netanya's outside shooting gave it a slim early cushion.
• Second quarter: Elitzur Shomron responded with a more physical approach, attacking the offensive glass and drawing fouls to edge ahead at the break.
• Third quarter: The visitors stretched their lead to nine behind a balanced scoring attack, only for Netanya to claw back with a late run.
• Fourth quarter: A nervy, low-scoring period decided by free throws, defensive stops, and one crucial offensive rebound in the final 30 seconds.

Key Moments

The momentum swung most dramatically in the third quarter, when Elitzur Shomron rattled off a run that briefly put the game in danger of getting away from the hosts. Netanya's response, a quick burst of three-point shooting and a pair of transition baskets, hauled them back within a single possession and set up the dramatic finish.

With under a minute remaining and the margin at three, Netanya had two looks to tie from beyond the arc. Both attempts rattled out, and Elitzur Shomron secured the defensive rebound on the second, effectively sealing the result at the free-throw line.

Tactical Story

Elitzur Shomron's game plan was built around controlling the paint. The visitors consistently drove the ball into the lane, drawing help defenders and generating open looks for shooters on the perimeter. Their work on the offensive boards extended possessions at critical moments, including the decisive rebound in the final minute that forced Netanya to foul.

Elizzur Maccabi Netanya, by contrast, relied on ball movement and perimeter shooting. When the shots fell, the offense looked fluid and difficult to guard. But the hosts struggled to generate second-chance points and were outscored in the paint, a deficiency that became glaring as the game tightened. Their late-game decision-making, while aggressive, lacked the patience that Elitzur Shomron showed on the other end.

Standout Performers

• Elitzur Shomron's lead guard controlled the pace, delivered timely assists, and knocked down the free throws that iced the game.
• Shomron's power forward was dominant on the glass, finishing with a double-double and providing the game's most important rebound.
• Elizzur Maccabi Netanya's sharpshooter led the hosts' scoring effort with a string of momentum-swinging three-pointers.
• Netanya's center anchored the defense with blocks and altered shots, though foul trouble limited his minutes in the fourth quarter.

What the Result Means

The road win strengthens Elitzur Shomron's position in the Club Friendship standings and underlines their ability to close out tight games away from home. Winning in that fashion, with the crowd against them and the game on the line, tends to carry over into the next fixtures.

For Elizzur Maccabi Netanya, the defeat is a narrow one with clear remedies: better rebounding, sharper late-game execution, and improved free-throw shooting. The margin between the two sides was a single possession, and on another night, with the same level of effort, the result could easily flip. Their next meeting now carries added significance as both clubs jockey for position in the table.
