Elitzur Yavne defeated Maccabi Kiryat Gat 87-75 in Club Friendship action, riding a strong second-half performance to a double-digit win. The game was tight through two quarters before Yavne's defensive pressure and transition scoring pulled them clear.

Match Overview

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to build a meaningful lead. Maccabi Kiryat Gat's half-court execution was sharp early, creating open looks through patient ball movement, while Elitzur Yavne answered with aggressive drives and offensive rebounding.

The complexion of the game changed after halftime. Yavne raised their defensive intensity, forced turnovers, and repeatedly converted them into points at the other end. The margin grew steadily across the third and fourth quarters, and Kiryat Gat never found a counter-run.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter run: Yavne opened the second half with a sustained scoring burst that pushed the lead into double figures.
• Defensive stops: A sequence of three straight stops midway through the third quarter, each followed by points, broke the game open.
• Free-throw composure: Yavne knocked down their attempts in the fourth quarter to keep Kiryat Gat at arm's length.
• Bench energy: Rotation players maintained the defensive standard and contributed timely scoring down the stretch.

Tactical Story

Yavne's coaching staff made a clear halftime adjustment: increase ball pressure and trap the pick-and-roll. The change disrupted Kiryat Gat's rhythm and forced them into rushed decisions. What had been a fluid offense in the first half became hesitant and turnover-prone after the break.

Offensively, Yavne attacked the rim relentlessly, drawing fouls and generating second-chance opportunities. Their guards pushed the pace at every opportunity, and the team's willingness to make the extra pass created clean looks both inside and beyond the arc.

Standout Players

Yavne's backcourt led the way with a combination of scoring and distribution, controlling the tempo and making key plays in the third-quarter run. Their interior players were active on the boards and finished well around the basket, while the bench delivered meaningful minutes on both ends.

For Maccabi Kiryat Gat, the first-half performance showed what the team is capable of offensively. Their guards shot the ball well and created for teammates, but the scoring dried up once Yavne's defense tightened, and the supporting cast struggled to generate offense when the primary options were taken away.

Season Impact

The win gives Elitzur Yavne a solid result in Club Friendship play and reinforces their reputation as a team that improves as games progress. Their second-half adjustments were the difference, and that kind of in-game flexibility is valuable in a competitive friendly circuit.

Maccabi Kiryat Gat will take encouragement from their opening 20 minutes but will be disappointed by how quickly the game slipped away. Closing out halves and handling pressure defense are the clear priorities as their schedule continues.
