The Chien Hsin University basketball team opened its Club Friendship campaign with a convincing 96-84 victory over National Taiwan University of Arts, pulling away after halftime in a fast, high-possession contest that tipped off at 14:00 on September 24, 2026. A 28-point third quarter proved decisive, turning a tight four-point game into a double-digit cushion the visitors never seriously threatened again.

Match Overview

Both sides came out shooting with confidence, trading baskets through a brisk opening period. Chien Hsin leaned on its half-court execution and second-chance points, while National Taiwan University of Arts stayed within touching distance thanks to quick transition offense and timely three-point shooting. The halftime margin of just four points reflected how evenly the first 20 minutes were played — and how much the game would hinge on the third quarter.

Key Moments

• End of Q1: Chien Hsin closed the opening period on a short run to lead 24-21, setting the tone with aggressive perimeter defense.
• Second quarter: NTUA answered with its best stretch of the game, knocking down outside shots and briefly taking the lead before Chien Hsin steadied at the free-throw line.
• Third quarter: The turning point. Chien Hsin opened the half with a sustained scoring burst, outscoring NTUA 28-17 to build a lead that reached 15 points.
• Fourth quarter: NTUA kept competing and won the final period 23-22, but the deficit was already too large to erase.

Tactical Story

The game was decided on the defensive end. Chien Hsin switched aggressively on screens in the third quarter, forcing NTUA into contested mid-range attempts and rushed passes late in the shot clock. That pressure translated directly into transition points, with Chien Hsin scoring repeatedly before the NTUA defense could set.

On offense, Chien Hsin's ball movement was the standout feature of the afternoon. The team consistently found the extra pass against NTUA's zone looks, generating open corner threes and easy finishes at the rim. NTUA, by contrast, relied heavily on individual creation — effective in spurts, but difficult to sustain across 40 minutes against a deeper rotation.

The rebounding battle also tilted toward Chien Hsin, particularly on the offensive glass. Those extra possessions added up, and NTUA's foul trouble in the paint only widened the gap as the game wore on.

Standout Performers

Chien Hsin's backcourt controlled the tempo throughout, balancing scoring with efficient distribution and limiting turnovers during the crucial third-quarter run. Their senior big man anchored the interior, altering shots and cleaning up misses on both ends.

For National Taiwan University of Arts, the guard rotation deserves credit for keeping the game competitive into the second half. NTUA's perimeter shooting was genuinely dangerous in the first two quarters, and its bench provided meaningful minutes when starters picked up early fouls. The visitors' effort never dropped, even after falling behind by double digits.

Season Impact

A 96-84 result gives Chien Hsin University an encouraging start in the Club Friendship competition and a useful reference point for its half-court defense. For NTUA, the loss offers clear coaching material: the third-quarter dry spell and the rebounding margin are fixable problems, and the team's offensive flashes suggest it can compete with stronger opposition on the schedule.

Both squads will look to build on this outing as the Club Friendship calendar continues, with Chien Hsin aiming to convert its depth advantage into consistent results and NTUA focused on sustaining its shooting form across all four quarters.
