Borisfen-Kalas Mogilev survived a late surge from Rubon to claim an 84-81 home victory in the Championship, holding their nerve in a tense final minute to protect a lead that had looked comfortable just five minutes earlier. It was a game of runs, momentum swings, and clutch free throws — and the hosts made the last decisive play.

Match Overview

Mogilev led for the majority of the contest but never fully shook off a determined Rubon side that shot the ball well from the perimeter and kept the game within a single possession deep into the fourth quarter. The hosts' superiority on the offensive glass and their efficiency from the charity stripe ultimately proved the difference.

How the Game Unfolded

The first quarter set the tone for a close, competitive evening. Mogilev's half-court offense looked sharp early, with good ball movement creating open looks inside and out, and a 22-19 lead after ten minutes reflected their slightly better shot quality. Rubon responded well in the second period, matching the hosts almost basket for basket and cutting into the deficit with timely three-point shooting.

The third quarter belonged, briefly, to the visitors. Rubon went on a 10-2 run midway through the period to take a narrow lead, only for Mogilev to answer with a surge of their own that restored a double-digit advantage late in the quarter. That cushion, however, evaporated quickly in the fourth.

Rubon's final push was impressive. Trailing by 12, they knocked down three consecutive three-pointers and forced a pair of turnovers to tie the game with just over a minute remaining. Mogilev's response was composed: a well-executed pick-and-roll produced a basket inside, and two made free throws in the closing seconds sealed the win.

Tactical Story

Borisfen-Kalas Mogilev won this game in the paint and at the line. Their offensive rebounding generated extra possessions that Rubon could not match, and their willingness to attack the rim drew fouls throughout the contest. In a three-point game, those marginal advantages added up.

Rubon's game plan was built around spacing and three-point volume, and for long stretches it worked — their ball movement was crisp and they punished Mogilev's help defense with skip passes to open corners. The problem was consistency on the defensive end, where they struggled to contain dribble penetration and gave up too many second-chance points.

Standout Performers

For the hosts, the leading scorer delivered in the biggest moments, converting the go-ahead basket in the final minute and finishing with a strong all-around line. The center was a force on the boards, while the point guard managed the tempo effectively against Rubon's aggressive perimeter pressure.

Rubon's shooting guard was the game's most dangerous perimeter threat, sparking the fourth-quarter comeback with back-to-back threes, and their forward contributed solid two-way minutes. In the end, though, the visitors were left to rue a handful of missed free throws and a couple of late turnovers.

What It Means

It is a valuable home win for Borisfen-Kalas Mogilev in the Championship, keeping them on track in the upper portion of the table and extending a strong run of form on their own floor. Winning tight games of this nature is often the difference between a good season and a great one.

Rubon leave with plenty of encouragement despite the defeat. Their resilience in erasing a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit shows the character in the squad, and if they can tighten up the defensive rebounding, results like this will start falling their way.
