Key moments

The decisive run came early in the fourth quarter. Leading 69-60, Keravnos opened the period with a 9-2 surge, capped by a transition dunk and a three-pointer from the wing. Morphou responded with a mini-run of its own, but Keravnos answered every challenge with a composed half-court possession. A late steal and fast-break layup sealed the result with under a minute remaining.

Tactical story

Keravnos controlled the tempo for long stretches, using patient ball movement to find open shooters and attacking the offensive glass when shots went up. Defensively, the hosts forced Morphou into difficult mid-range attempts and limited clean looks from beyond the arc. Morphou competed well on the boards but struggled to contain Keravnos’s dribble penetration, which repeatedly collapsed the defense and created open perimeter opportunities.

Standout players

• Andreas Christou (Keravnos Strovolos): 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists — a composed leader in the backcourt.
• Marios Georgiou (Keravnos Strovolos): 17 points and 8 rebounds, dominating the interior.
• Nikos Pavlides (Keravnos Strovolos): 14 points off the bench, including three key three-pointers.
• Costas Pavlou (Morphou): 20 points and 6 rebounds, the visitors’ standout performer.

Season impact

The victory strengthens Keravnos Strovolos’s position in the Cypriot Basketball Division A standings and adds a valuable home win to their record. Morphou will look to tighten its perimeter defense and reduce turnovers before its next outing. Keravnos will aim to carry the momentum into the next round as the league table begins to take shape.
