The contest lived up to its billing as an offensive showcase. The win strengthens the Lions’ position in the CBA standings and adds another entertaining chapter to the season’s early narrative.

• Competition: Chinese Basketball Association

Guangsha held a three-point lead after the first quarter and took a 58-54 advantage into halftime. The third quarter remained tight, with Shanxi’s outside shooting keeping them within striking distance. The Lions entered the final period ahead 85-80, then survived a series of late surges to close out the win.

How the Game Unfolded

Guangsha’s offense flowed through quick ball movement and aggressive drives that collapsed the Shanxi defense. When the help defenders arrived, the Lions found open shooters on the perimeter. Shanxi countered with a confident three-point attack and strong individual shot-making, keeping the game within one or two possessions for long stretches.

The final quarter turned into a tactical chess match. Shanxi switched between man-to-man and zone defenses, trying to disrupt Guangsha’s rhythm. The Lions responded by attacking the zone through the high post and using dribble penetration to create fouls. In the last three minutes, Guangsha’s defense forced two critical turnovers that translated into fast-break points.

Key Moments

With the score tied at 103-103, Guangsha produced the game’s defining run. A corner three gave the Lions the lead, and a steal on the next possession led to an and-one layup. Shanxi answered with a deep three, but Guangsha’s composure at the free-throw line in the final minute kept the visitors from completing the comeback.

Tactical Story

The Lions won the rebounding battle and generated more second-chance points, which proved decisive in a game where both teams shot well from the field. Guangsha also limited live-ball turnovers in the fourth quarter, while Shanxi’s aggressive trapping defense occasionally left the paint exposed. The Lions’ ability to score inside and out made them difficult to guard for a full 40 minutes.

Standout Players

Guangsha guard Li Ran led all scorers with 30 points and eight assists, repeatedly breaking down Shanxi’s defense in isolation. Forward Zhang Wei added 24 points and 10 rebounds, while center Hu Tao contributed 18 points and three blocks. Shanxi was powered by guard Wang Lei’s 29 points and center Liu Chuan’s 20-point, 12-rebound double-double.

What the Result Means

The victory gives Zhejiang Guangsha Lions another important result in the CBA standings and reinforces their reputation as a team capable of winning high-tempo games. Shanxi Loongs Fenjiu leave with a loss but will take encouragement from their offensive execution. Both teams remain firmly in the early-season conversation as the CBA schedule moves forward.
