Shanxi Loongs Fenjiu Dominate Ningbo Rockets 103-73 in CBA Road Win

Shanxi Loongs Fenjiu produced one of the most complete performances of the early Chinese Basketball Association season on October 20, 2026, dismantling the Ningbo Rockets 103-73 on the road. The 30-point margin reflected Shanxi’s control on both ends of the floor, with the visitors setting the tempo early and never allowing Ningbo to settle into a comfortable half-court rhythm.

Match Overview

Shanxi opened with purpose, moving the ball quickly and attacking the paint before stepping into perimeter shots. A 28-16 first-quarter lead gave the Loongs Fenjiu immediate breathing room, and they stretched the advantage to 54-35 by halftime. Ningbo’s offense was stuck between isolation play and rushed three-point attempts, while Shanxi kept converting turnovers into transition points.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch arrived early in the third quarter. Shanxi opened with a 14-2 run, capped by back-to-back baskets from Marcus Hale and a steal-and-finish from Zhang Ning, pushing the lead beyond 30 points. Ningbo called timeout, but the momentum had already shifted permanently. A late fourth-quarter flurry from the Rockets only trimmed the final margin, as Shanxi’s bench closed out the game with the same defensive intensity as the starters.

Tactical Story

Shanxi’s pressure defense was the story of the night. The Loongs Fenjiu forced Ningbo into contested decisions, rotated well on the perimeter and limited second-chance opportunities with strong defensive rebounding. Offensively, Shanxi leaned on pick-and-roll actions and quick ball reversal, creating open looks from beyond the arc and clean driving lanes. Ningbo, by contrast, struggled to generate consistent half-court offense and was punished whenever possessions ended in live-ball turnovers.

Standout Performers

• Marcus Hale (Shanxi Loongs Fenjiu) — 26 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds; controlled the pace throughout.
• Zhang Ning (Shanxi Loongs Fenjiu) — 19 points and 4 steals; supplied energy on both ends.
• Li Yifan (Ningbo Rockets) — 17 points and 6 rebounds; one of the few consistent offensive threats for the hosts.
• Wang Junjie (Ningbo Rockets) — 12 points and 7 rebounds; battled inside despite the scoreline.

Season Impact

For Shanxi Loongs Fenjiu, the result is a statement about their depth and defensive identity. A 30-point road win in the CBA standings race is the kind of performance that builds confidence for tougher matchups ahead. For Ningbo, the focus must shift to ball security and perimeter defense; the Rockets showed flashes of fight but were never able to slow Shanxi’s transition game. The final score of 103-73 will read as a clear Shanxi victory, but the tactical gap was even wider for much of the night.
