Liaoning Flying Leopards 104, Sichuan Jinqiang Blue Whales 73 — Chinese Basketball Association

The Liaoning Flying Leopards made short work of the Sichuan Jinqiang Blue Whales on Sunday, October 11, 2026, cruising to a 104-73 victory in Chinese Basketball Association action. The game tipped off at 7:30 p.m. and developed into a one-sided affair, with Liaoning pulling away steadily before turning the final quarter into a formality.

It was a performance that underlined the Flying Leopards' reputation as one of the CBA's most formidable sides, combining efficient offense with suffocating defense. The 31-point margin was the clearest indicator of the gap between the two teams on the night.

Match Overview

Liaoning controlled the game from the opening possession, using their size and depth to overwhelm their visitors. The hosts built an early lead and never allowed Sichuan to establish any offensive rhythm, closing the first quarter with a comfortable advantage and extending it steadily thereafter.

• First quarter: Liaoning 27–16
• Halftime: Liaoning 54–33
• End of third: Liaoning 82–54
• Final: Liaoning 104–73

By halftime the contest was already effectively decided. Liaoning's bench saw extended minutes in the second half, and the younger players made the most of the opportunity, maintaining the intensity and keeping the scoring differential intact.

Key Moments

The decisive passage came during the second quarter, when Liaoning ripped off a sustained run on both ends of the floor. A string of defensive stops, combined with crisp ball movement and accurate outside shooting, stretched the lead beyond 20 points and left Sichuan chasing the game for the remainder of the evening.

Any faint hope of a Sichuan comeback was extinguished early in the third quarter, as Liaoning opened the second half with another burst that pushed the margin toward 30. From there, the only question was the final scoreline.

Tactical Story

Liaoning's dominance started on the defensive end. They contested every shot, closed driving lanes, and forced Sichuan into low-percentage attempts late in the shot clock. The Blue Whales struggled to generate clean looks and were repeatedly punished in transition.

Offensively, Liaoning shared the ball exceptionally well. Their spacing created open threes and easy looks at the rim, and their dominance on the offensive glass generated second-chance points that further demoralized the visitors. It was a textbook team performance built on balance rather than reliance on a single scorer.

Standout Performers

• Liaoning's backcourt dictated tempo throughout, pushing the pace and distributing the ball effectively.
• The frontcourt controlled the paint on both ends, finishing efficiently and protecting the rim.
• Sichuan found scoring difficult, with their leading contributors forced into tough, contested shots all night.

Standings and Season Impact

The win keeps Liaoning firmly among the CBA's early-season frontrunners and serves as another reminder of their championship credentials. For Sichuan, the heavy defeat highlighted the gap between the league's elite and a roster still searching for consistency.

Liaoning will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture, while the Blue Whales must regroup quickly before their next outing.
