Turning Point and Key Moments

The turning point arrived midway through the third quarter. With Fujian within two points, Liaoning engineered a 9-2 run capped by a fast-break dunk and a corner three. That pushed the lead to 11 and forced Fujian to call timeout. The Sturgeons responded with a 10-2 run of their own to open the fourth, cutting the deficit to three, but Liaoning’s veteran guards made back-to-back jumpers to steady the offense.

In the final minute, Fujian had a chance to tie, but a contested three-pointer rimmed out. Liaoning secured the rebound, hit two free throws, and escaped with the win. The game featured 14 lead changes and eight ties, making it one of the more entertaining CBA contests of the early season.

Standout Performances

Liaoning’s star guard led all scorers with 28 points, nine assists, and four rebounds. He was particularly effective in pick-and-roll situations, repeatedly finding open teammates or pulling up for mid-range jumpers. The Flying Leopards also got a dominant performance from their forward, who posted 24 points and 11 rebounds, while the team’s center added 16 points and eight boards.

Fujian was powered by their import guard, who scored 30 points and dished out seven assists. Their sharpshooting forward added 22 points, including five three-pointers, and their center contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds. Despite the loss, Fujian showed why they are a dangerous offensive team capable of competing with the CBA’s elite.

Tactical Story

Liaoning focused on attacking the rim early, drawing fouls and forcing Fujian’s big men into early defensive rotations. The Flying Leopards finished with a 44-34 advantage in points in the paint and shot 28 free throws compared to Fujian’s 19. Defensively, Liaoning mixed man-to-man and zone looks, trying to disrupt Fujian’s rhythm from beyond the arc.

Fujian, meanwhile, relied on quick ball movement and three-point shooting. They made 16 threes as a team, keeping them in the game even when Liaoning threatened to pull away. However, their inability to get key stops in the final three minutes proved decisive. Liaoning’s experience and composure in close games was the difference.

CBA Standings and Season Impact

The victory strengthens Liaoning’s position near the top of the CBA standings and reinforces their reputation as a title contender. For Fujian Xunxing Sturgeons, the loss is a tough one, but their offensive output suggests they can compete for a playoff spot if they improve their late-game defense. In the CBA, road wins are precious, and Liaoning protected their home court in a game that could have gone either way.

Liaoning will look to build on this result as they continue a demanding stretch of the schedule. Fujian must regroup quickly, especially on the defensive end, where they allowed 108 points. The 108-104 final score reflects a fast, competitive game that showcased the best of CBA basketball.
