Shenzhen Leopards Edge Jiangsu Dragons Kentier 89-81 in CBA Road Battle

The Shenzhen Leopards secured an important 89-81 road victory over the Jiangsu Dragons Kentier on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Chinese Basketball Association play. Shenzhen’s late-game execution and defensive discipline proved the difference in a contest that remained tight deep into the fourth quarter.

The Leopards improved their early-season record with a hard-fought win, while Jiangsu were left frustrated after another close game escaped them in the final minutes. The eight-point margin was not entirely reflective of how competitive the game was for most of the night.

Match Overview

Jiangsu started strongly in front of their home crowd, leading 22-18 after the first quarter behind aggressive interior play. Shenzhen responded in the second period, tightening their defense and getting timely three-point shooting to take a 43-42 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to build a significant cushion. Shenzhen led 65-61 entering the fourth, setting up a tense finish. The Leopards then made the bigger plays down the stretch, holding Jiangsu to 20 fourth-quarter points while executing their own offense efficiently.

• Q1: Jiangsu 22, Shenzhen 18

• Q3: Jiangsu 19, Shenzhen 22
• Q4: Jiangsu 20, Shenzhen 24

Key Moments

With the game tied at 75-75 midway through the fourth quarter, Shenzhen produced an 8-0 run that created just enough separation. The sequence began with a contested layup, followed by a steal that led to a fast-break dunk. Jiangsu called timeout, but Shenzhen’s defense continued to contest every shot.

Jiangsu cut the lead to four with 90 seconds remaining, but Shenzhen answered with a calm mid-range jumper and two free throws. The Dragons Kentier missed a pair of three-point attempts on their next possessions, and the Leopards closed out the win from the line.

Tactical Story

Shenzhen’s balance was the key. The Leopards had multiple players involved in the offense and avoided long scoring droughts. Their guards did a good job of breaking down Jiangsu’s defense off the dribble, and the team’s ball movement created open looks from beyond the arc.

Jiangsu’s offense was effective inside but inconsistent from the perimeter. The Dragons Kentier struggled to convert open threes and allowed Shenzhen to load up in the paint. Defensive rebounding also hurt Jiangsu, as Shenzhen generated extra possessions at critical moments.

Standout Performers

Shenzhen guard He Xinyu led the Leopards with 20 points and six assists, making several important plays in the fourth quarter. Forward Li Haoran added 16 points and nine rebounds. For Jiangsu, center Zhang Ming posted 18 points and 12 rebounds, but the Dragons Kentier needed more production from their backcourt in the closing minutes.

Season Impact

The win gives Shenzhen Leopards a valuable road result and strengthens their early CBA positioning. Jiangsu Dragons Kentier remain competitive but must improve their late-game shot selection and perimeter shooting. Close losses can accumulate quickly in the CBA, and Jiangsu will be eager to respond in their next fixture.
