Key moments

Cardiff's early 10-2 run set the tone, forcing Nottingham to play catch-up from the opening minutes. Nottingham briefly threatened in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits with a run of their own, but Cardiff answered immediately with back-to-back three-pointers. That response drained momentum from the home side and restored the visitors' comfortable lead.

The third quarter was crucial. Nottingham needed a fast start after the break, but Cardiff scored the first six points of the period and never allowed the game to become tight again. The fourth quarter saw Cardiff close out the win professionally, moving the ball well and converting free throws to keep the margin comfortable.

Tactical story

Cardiff Met Archer Women's ball movement was excellent throughout the contest. They swung the ball quickly, found open shooters, and attacked closeouts with confidence. Their perimeter shooting stretched Nottingham's defense, creating space inside for cutters and offensive rebounds. Defensively, Cardiff rotated well and contested shots, making Nottingham work hard for every basket.

Nottingham Women had spells of effectiveness when they played through the post and attacked the offensive glass. However, they struggled to contain Cardiff's shooters and gave up too many open looks in transition. The home side's effort was visible, but Cardiff's execution at both ends was simply sharper.

Standout performers

Cardiff's backcourt controlled the game with intelligent passing and timely scoring, while the team's forwards contributed important rebounds and inside finishes. The balanced scoring made Cardiff difficult to defend. For Nottingham, the leading scorers kept battling and produced some good individual moments, but the team lacked the collective consistency needed to slow Cardiff's attack.

League impact

The win strengthens Cardiff Met Archer Women's position in the British Woman's Basketball League standings and adds another confidence-boosting road result to their campaign. A 90-point performance highlights their offensive potential. Nottingham Women will need to review their defensive rotations and transition defense before their next fixture, as they look to turn promising spells into complete performances.
