SESI / Araraquara Women produced a controlled road performance to defeat Santo Andre Women 79-64 in the Brazil Women's Paulista Basketball league on 16 October 2026. The visitors took the lead in the opening quarter and never surrendered it, steadily building a double-digit advantage behind balanced scoring and disciplined defense. It is the kind of result that strengthens SESI / Araraquara's position in the Paulista standings while leaving Santo Andre searching for answers after a third consecutive home defeat.

SESI / Araraquara Take Charge Early

The game's tone was set in the first ten minutes. SESI / Araraquara came out with a high-tempo offense, pushing the ball after makes and attacking the rim before Santo Andre's half-court defense could set. A 22-18 opening quarter gave the visitors a narrow edge, but it was the way they managed the game afterwards that proved decisive. Rather than trading baskets in a shootout, Araraquara squeezed the pace, forced Santo Andre into late-clock possessions, and converted those defensive stops into transition points of their own.

By halftime the advantage had grown, and the pattern of the night was clear: whenever Santo Andre threatened a run, SESI / Araraquara answered with a composed offensive set or a timely three-pointer. The visitors' quarter-by-quarter consistency — 22, 20, 19, 18 points — shows a team that never allowed its level to drop, even as the home crowd tried to spark a response.

• Second quarter: Santo Andre 15 – 20 SESI / Araraquara
• Third quarter: Santo Andre 16 – 19 SESI / Araraquara

Key Moments That Decided the Match

The decisive stretch arrived midway through the second quarter. With Santo Andre within four points and looking to close the gap before the break, SESI / Araraquara strung together a 9-2 run built on a pair of steals at the top of the key and an offensive rebound put-back. That burst pushed the lead into double figures for the first time and forced a Santo Andre timeout. The home side never got closer than six points again.

Early in the fourth quarter, Santo Andre made one final push, cutting the deficit with back-to-back baskets in the paint. Araraquara's response was clinical: a corner three, then a pair of free throws after drawing a foul on a drive, restoring a comfortable cushion and effectively ending the contest with five minutes still to play. From there the visitors slowed the tempo and closed the game out from the free-throw line.

Tactical Story: Defense and Rebounding

The stat sheet told a familiar story for a road win of this size. SESI / Araraquara controlled the defensive glass, limiting Santo Andre to very few second-chance opportunities across the middle two quarters, and their help defense repeatedly collapsed on drives without conceding easy kick-out threes. Santo Andre finished with 64 points, well below the output they typically need to stay competitive in the Paulista championship, and much of that came from contested shots late in the clock.

Offensively, Araraquara's spacing was the difference. With shooters positioned deep on the wings, their guards found driving lanes throughout the night, and when Santo Andre switched to a zone, Araraquara answered with crisp ball movement and mid-range jumpers. The visitors also did their damage in transition: turnovers turned into quick points at the other end, which is precisely the kind of scoring burst that breaks a home team's rhythm.

Standout Performers

• SESI / Araraquara: A balanced attack, with the backcourt dictating tempo and combining for the bulk of the team's assists. The interior rotation protected the rim and won the rebound battle on the defensive end.
• SESI / Araraquara: Reliable free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter, a detail that prevented any late comeback scenario from developing.
• Santo Andre: Encouraging individual efforts in the paint and on the offensive boards, but the team's perimeter shooting never found a consistent rhythm.
• Santo Andre: Defensive intensity in the third quarter kept the margin from ballooning further, a positive to carry into the next fixture.

What the Result Means

For SESI / Araraquara Women, this is a valuable road victory in the Paulista campaign — exactly the sort of result that separates genuine title contenders from the middle of the table. Winning away from home, holding an opponent to 64 points, and doing it with four consistent qua
