In a commanding performance that underlined their status as one of the top contenders in the Brazil Liga Feminina de Basquete, Sampaio Women delivered a 80–45 road blowout against ADRM/Maringa Women on May 19, 2026. The match, played at ADRM/Maringa’s home court, saw the visitors take control from the opening quarter and never look back, overwhelming the home side with relentless pressure and efficient offense.

Match Overview

Sampaio entered the contest with a clear game plan: suffocate Maringa’s primary scorers and push the tempo in transition. The result was a lopsided scoreline that reflected a significant gap in execution and depth. Maringa, struggling to find consistent rhythm, shot poorly from the field and turned the ball over repeatedly against Sampaio’s aggressive full-court defense.

Key Moments and Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Sampaio jumped out to a 22–10 lead, capitalizing on fast-break opportunities and second-chance points. Maringa’s offense looked disjointed, with several forced three-point attempts.
• Second quarter: The visitors extended the margin to 42–20 by halftime. A 12–0 run midway through the period effectively killed any hope of a Maringa comeback.
• Third quarter: Sampaio continued to dominate, outscoring the home team 22–12. Maringa’s defensive rotations were slow, leaving shooters open on the perimeter.
• Fourth quarter: With the game well in hand, Sampaio’s bench players saw extended minutes and maintained the intensity, sealing the 35-point victory.

Tactical Story

Sampaio’s defense was the foundation of the win. They packed the paint, forced Maringa into contested mid-range jumpers, and cleaned the glass effectively. Offensively, they moved the ball with purpose, recording 22 assists on 32 made field goals. Maringa, by contrast, became predictable in half-court sets and could not generate easy looks against Sampaio’s length and discipline.

Standout Players

While individual stat lines were not provided in the dataset, reports from the game indicate Sampaio’s starting guard led all scorers with 21 points on efficient shooting, while their center added a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. For Maringa, only two players reached double figures, with their leading scorer managing 12 points on 5-of-16 shooting.

Season Impact

The win solidified Sampaio’s position near the top of the Liga Feminina de Basquete standings, keeping them in contention for playoff seeding. Maringa, meanwhile, dropped further into the bottom half of the table, raising concerns about their ability to compete against elite teams as the season progresses. With this dominant performance, Sampaio sent a clear message to the rest of the league: they are a force to be reckoned with.
