The Our Team Joinville basketball team delivered a composed home performance on October 22, 2026, defeating Basket Joacaba 76-64 in a Brazil Campeonato FCB matchup that was decided by defense, rebounding, and a decisive second-half surge. Joinville never allowed the visitors to settle into a comfortable rhythm after halftime, turning a competitive game into a double-digit victory built on paint control and timely perimeter shooting.

Match overview

Joinville opened with energy on both ends, but Basket Joacaba stayed close early by moving the ball well and knocking down contested jumpers. The first quarter was tight, with neither side able to build a significant cushion. Joinville’s advantage came on the glass, where its frontcourt created second-chance opportunities and limited Joacaba to mostly one-shot possessions.

By the midway point, the game remained within reach for Basket Joacaba, but the home side’s defensive pressure began to tell. Joinville forced difficult late-clock attempts and converted stops into transition points, gradually shifting the momentum in front of its home crowd.

Key moments

The turning point arrived in the third quarter. Joinville strung together a prolonged run behind aggressive drives and offensive rebounds, pushing the lead into double figures. Guilherme Rocha set the tone with a strong scoring night inside and out, while Lucas Mendes added important baskets in transition. Basket Joacaba threatened briefly with a few quick threes, but Joinville answered each time with a composed possession and a defensive stop.

The fourth quarter belonged to the home side’s defense. Joinville closed out on shooters, protected the rim, and controlled the defensive boards, denying Joacaba the second chances it needed to mount a comeback. The final margin of 12 points reflected Joinville’s control over the closing stretch.

Standout performers

Rocha led Joinville with a strong all-around effort, finishing among the game’s top scorers while contributing on the boards. Mendes provided scoring balance and pace, and the Joinville bench gave valuable minutes without letting the intensity drop. For Basket Joacaba, the backcourt worked hard to create looks, but consistent scoring was hard to find once Joinville tightened its half-court defense.

Tactical story

Joinville’s game plan revolved around owning the paint and making Joacaba work for every point. The home team attacked the offensive glass, drew help defenders, and kicked out for open perimeter looks. Defensively, Joinville prioritized stopping penetration and forcing Joacaba into contested mid-range shots. That formula paid off after halftime, when the visitors’ shooting cooled and Joinville’s rebounding advantage became decisive.

Table impact

The 76-64 win gives Our Team Joinville an important result in the Campeonato FCB standings, reinforcing its home-court strength and adding momentum to its season. For Basket Joacaba, the loss is a reminder that road games in the competition demand greater consistency on the defensive glass and more efficient shot selection down the stretch.

Joinville will look to carry the same defensive intensity into its next fixture, while Basket Joacaba will focus on reducing second-chance points and finding more balance between its interior and perimeter attack.
