Dinamica Sao Jose edged out AJAB/Secel 81-78 in a thrilling Brazil Campeonato FCB contest on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, surviving a late rally to claim a three-point road win in one of the tightest games of the round.

The visitors led for much of the second half, but AJAB/Secel refused to go away, cutting the deficit to a single possession in the final minute. In the end, composure at the free-throw line and one crucial defensive stop allowed Dinamica Sao Jose to close out a victory that had looked comfortable only minutes earlier.

Match Overview

This was a game of runs. Dinamica Sao Jose opened with intent, pushing the tempo and attacking early in the shot clock, while AJAB/Secel settled into a more methodical half-court approach built around ball movement and interior screens. The two styles clashed entertainingly, producing 159 combined points and a contest that stayed alive until the final buzzer.

Shooting efficiency on both sides was solid, but the decisive edge came at the line and on the offensive glass, where Dinamica Sao Jose generated a handful of extra possessions that proved to be the difference in a three-point game.

Key Moments

AJAB/Secel started brightly, leading 21-19 after the first quarter, but Dinamica Sao Jose seized control in the second with a 23-point period that pushed them in front at the interval. The visitors extended their advantage to nine midway through the third, only for AJAB/Secel to respond with a 10-2 run of their own, capped by a transition dunk that brought the home crowd to life.

The fourth quarter was a genuine arm-wrestle. AJAB/Secel tied the game at 76-76 with just over two minutes remaining, but Dinamica Sao Jose answered immediately with a tough mid-range jumper and then forced a shot-clock violation on the next possession. Two made free throws in the final 20 seconds gave the visitors the cushion they needed, and a desperation three at the buzzer fell short.

Tactical Story

The game turned on Dinamica Sao Jose's ability to control the defensive rebound in the second half. Their guards dropped back to help on the glass, limiting AJAB/Secel's second-chance points and allowing them to get out in transition. Offensively, they repeatedly targeted switches, isolating smaller defenders in the post and forcing help rotations that opened up kick-out threes.

AJAB/Secel's zone look in the third quarter briefly disrupted the visitors' rhythm and sparked their comeback, but Dinamica Sao Jose adjusted by placing a shooter at the free-throw line and attacking the gaps. AJAB/Secel's late-game execution was good but not quite clean enough, with two turnovers in the final 90 seconds proving decisive.

Standout Performers

• Dinamica Sao Jose: Caio Bertoldi controlled the tempo throughout, delivering in the clutch with a key jumper and steady free-throw shooting down the stretch.
• Dinamica Sao Jose: Thiago Nascimento's work on the offensive boards created critical extra possessions in a game decided by margins.
• AJAB/Secel: Vinícius Kruger led the scoring effort and was the catalyst for the third-quarter run that brought his team back into contention.
• AJAB/Secel: Éder Ramos provided energy and defensive pressure off the bench, though foul trouble limited his minutes in the fourth.

Campeonato FCB Standings Impact

The result lifts Dinamica Sao Jose in the Campeonato FCB standings and gives them a valuable head-to-head advantage over a fellow contender. For AJAB/Secel, it is a narrow defeat that will sting, particularly given how close they came to completing the comeback. Their form over recent rounds remains encouraging, but converting tight games into wins is the next step if they are to climb the table.

With the season progressing, both clubs will view this fixture as a benchmark. Dinamica Sao Jose proved they can win on the road under pressure; AJAB/Secel proved they can compete with anyone in the league. The rematch should be circled on the calendar.
