The Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) clash between Sao Jose and Unifacisa turned into a road statement, with the visitors leaving the gym with a 97-83 victory after controlling the second half on both ends of the floor. Unifacisa's balanced scoring and superior rebounding proved decisive in a game that was competitive early but increasingly one-sided as the minutes wore on.

Match Overview

Sao Jose opened with energy in front of their home crowd, pushing the pace and attacking the rim in transition. The first quarter was played at a high tempo, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to build a meaningful cushion. Unifacisa settled in during the second period, tightening their half-court defense and forcing Sao Jose into contested jump shots late in the shot clock.

By halftime the visitors had established a narrow but psychologically important lead, and they returned from the locker room with a clear plan: punish Sao Jose inside and dominate the defensive glass.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter run: Unifacisa closed the half with a decisive surge, converting turnovers into easy transition points and flipping the momentum.
• Third-quarter separation: A sustained scoring stretch early in the second half pushed the lead into double digits, forcing Sao Jose into catch-up basketball.
• Fourth-quarter execution: With Sao Jose forced to foul and gamble defensively, Unifacisa knocked down free throws and protected the ball to close out the win.

Tactical Story

The game was decided in the painted area and on the boards. Unifacisa's frontcourt out-muscled Sao Jose for second-chance opportunities, and their help defense rotated quickly enough to contest shots at the rim without conceding open corner threes. Offensively, the visitors moved the ball through the high post and generated clean looks from both the paint and the perimeter, finishing with a shooting efficiency that Sao Jose simply could not match.

Sao Jose's attack leaned heavily on individual shot creation. When those shots fell early, the game stayed close; once Unifacisa switched to a more physical, switch-heavy defensive scheme, the home side's ball movement stalled and possessions ended in low-percentage attempts.

Standout Performers

Unifacisa's backcourt dictated the rhythm of the game, combining perimeter shooting with penetration that collapsed Sao Jose's defense and created kick-out opportunities. Their interior players were equally important, controlling the glass and finishing through contact. Sao Jose had bright stretches from their guards, who kept the scoreboard moving in the first half, but the support around them faded as the game progressed.

Season Impact

The result gives Unifacisa an important road win in the NBB standings, the kind of victory that boosts confidence and playoff positioning in a league where home-court advantage is notoriously difficult to overcome. For Sao Jose, the defeat is a reminder that their defensive consistency must improve if they are to compete with the upper tier of Brazilian basketball. Both teams now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Sao Jose looking to reset at home and Unifacisa hoping to build on a convincing away performance.
