The game was far closer than the final margin suggested for much of the night. Unifacisa competed well on the boards and kept the score tight through the first half, but Mogi das Cruzes found another gear after the break, attacking the paint and converting key free throws down the stretch.

Match Overview

Unifacisa started with confidence, moving the ball well and finding open looks against Mogi’s early defense. The visitors attacked the basket and used their physicality to create second-chance opportunities. Mogi stayed close by pushing the tempo and getting contributions from multiple players, keeping the game within reach.

The second half saw Mogi take greater control. The hosts tightened their defense, limited Unifacisa’s clean perimeter looks, and began winning the rebounding battle. Offensively, Mogi attacked the rim with purpose and drew fouls, gradually building a lead that Unifacisa could not erase.

Key Moments

• Unifacisa kept the first half close with offensive rebounding and timely perimeter shooting.
• Mogi das Cruzes opened the second half with a decisive run, built on defensive stops and interior scoring.
• Unifacisa cut the deficit late, but Mogi answered with clutch free throws and a key defensive stop.
• The hosts sealed the game in the final minute by controlling the defensive glass.

Tactical Story

Mogi das Cruzes’ second-half adjustment centered on defense and rebounding. The hosts reduced Unifacisa’s second-chance points, forced tougher shots, and made the visitors work deeper into the shot clock. That defensive improvement allowed Mogi to play more comfortably in transition and create easier scoring opportunities.

On offense, Mogi’s willingness to attack the paint paid off. The hosts drew fouls, finished through contact, and kicked the ball out when Unifacisa collapsed. Unifacisa remained competitive through effort on the boards and shot-making from the perimeter, but the visitors could not match Mogi’s late-game execution on both ends.

Standout Performers

Mogi das Cruzes’ balanced attack was key. The backcourt controlled the tempo and made timely shots, while the frontcourt provided physical play on the boards and around the rim. The bench also contributed important minutes, helping Mogi maintain energy during the decisive second-half run.

Unifacisa’s top performers kept the visitors in the game with scoring and rebounding. The team’s guards created opportunities off the dribble, and the big men competed hard inside. In the end, however, Unifacisa’s late turnovers and missed free throws made the comeback too difficult.

What the Result Means

The win gives Mogi das Cruzes a valuable home result in the Novo Basquete Brasil standings and reinforces the team’s ability to close out competitive games. For Unifacisa, the 78-70 defeat is a narrow loss that will sting, but the performance showed enough fight to suggest better results are within reach. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of NBB fixtures.
