Federación Boliviana de Básquetbol: The Governing Body of Bolivian Basketball

The Federación Boliviana de Básquetbol (FBB) is the national governing body for basketball in Bolivia. It oversees the organization, development, and promotion of the sport across all levels, from grassroots initiatives to the highest professional competitions in the country. As the official member of FIBA (International Basketball Federation) for Bolivia, the FBB is responsible for forming and managing the Bolivian national teams that compete in continental events like the FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers and the South American Basketball Championship.

Structure and Key Competitions

Under the FBB's umbrella, the premier domestic competition is the Liga Boliviana de Básquetbol (LNB). This professional league typically features the top club teams from major cities like La Paz, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz, competing in a season that culminates in a playoff series to crown the national champion. The FBB also organizes lower-tier leagues, youth tournaments, and the national cup competition, creating a structured pathway for player development.

Development and International Role

A core mission of the Federación Boliviana de Básquetbol is to elevate the standard of Bolivian basketball on the international stage. This involves not only managing senior national teams but also investing in youth programs to identify and nurture future talent. The federation works to implement FIBA's guidelines, organize referee and coaching clinics, and ensure the sport's infrastructure grows sustainably throughout Bolivia's diverse regions.
