Leeuwarden Edge Feyenoord Basketbal Rotterdam 76-71 in BNXT League

Leeuwarden secured a hard-fought 76-71 road win over Feyenoord Basketbal Rotterdam in the BNXT League on October 3, 2026. The visitors relied on late-game defense and clutch free throws to hold off a determined Rotterdam side. The victory gives Leeuwarden an important early-season result in the Dutch-Belgian competition.

The game was tight throughout, with neither team able to build a comfortable lead until the final minutes. Leeuwarden's execution down the stretch made the difference in a contest that featured 10 lead changes and several ties.

Match Overview

Feyenoord started aggressively, attacking the offensive glass and getting to the rim. The home crowd helped fuel an early run, but Leeuwarden answered with patient half-court offense and timely three-point shooting. The first half ended with the teams separated by a single possession.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Both teams traded baskets, and neither defense could string together multiple stops. Entering the fourth, the game was still up for grabs. Leeuwarden then made the decisive plays: a corner three, a steal that led to a fast-break layup, and four straight free throws in the final minute.

Key Moments

• Fourth-quarter steal: Leeuwarden's interception with under three minutes left led to a fast-break basket and a four-point swing.
• Corner three: A clutch shot from the corner gave Leeuwarden a lead it would not surrender.
• Free-throw ice: The visitors made their final four free throws to seal the win.

Standout Performers

Leeuwarden's guards controlled the game in the clutch, scoring and creating for others. The team's forward rotation also did a solid job on the boards, preventing Feyenoord from getting easy second-chance points in the final quarter. Feyenoord's big men were effective inside for much of the night, but the team struggled to convert open looks from the perimeter when it mattered most.

For Rotterdam, the loss is a frustrating one because it led for long stretches and matched Leeuwarden physically. The difference came down to late-game decision-making and free-throw shooting.

Tactical Story and BNXT Standings Impact

Leeuwarden's defensive adjustments in the fourth quarter were key. The visitors switched to a more aggressive pick-and-roll coverage, forcing Feyenoord's ball handlers into contested pull-ups. Offensively, Leeuwarden slowed the pace and attacked mismatches inside, drawing fouls and getting to the bonus early.

In the BNXT League standings, this road win could prove valuable as the season progresses. The competition combines top clubs from the Netherlands and Belgium, and every away victory helps in the race for playoff positioning. Feyenoord will look to bounce back quickly, while Leeuwarden will take confidence from closing out a tight game on the road.
