Key moments

Mechelen broke the game open with a 12-2 run midway through the second quarter. The surge was fueled by defensive stops and quick transition baskets, pushing the lead to 18 points. LDP Donza tried to respond with a more physical approach inside, but Mechelen’s ball movement consistently created open looks on the perimeter.

The third quarter was Mechelen’s most complete period. They opened with a 9-2 run, forced Donza into several rushed shots, and extended the lead beyond 25 points. Although Donza competed until the end, Mechelen’s depth and execution kept the margin comfortable throughout the fourth quarter.

Tactical story

Mechelen’s offense was balanced and efficient. The guards pushed the pace when opportunities appeared, while the frontcourt dominated the paint and created second-chance points. Their three-point shooting forced Donza to defend the entire half-court, opening driving lanes and cutters inside.

Defensively, Mechelen limited Donza’s best looks and contested nearly every shot in the second half. Donza found some success when they attacked the rim early in possessions, but they struggled to sustain offense against Mechelen’s rotations. The hosts also controlled the defensive glass, preventing Donza from getting easy putbacks.

Standout performers

Mechelen’s backcourt set the tone with pressure defense and smart decision-making. The guards consistently found the open shooter and kept the offense flowing even when Donza tried to slow the pace. Mechelen’s bench also made a significant impact, maintaining the defensive intensity and contributing key baskets in the second half.

For LDP Donza, there were positive moments in the paint, but the team could not match Mechelen’s scoring depth. The visitors will need to improve their perimeter defense and ball security heading into their next fixture.
