Kortrijk Women delivered a statement road performance in the Belgium Women's Division 1, overwhelming Lummen Women 88-51 on 27 September 2026. The visitors were sharper from the opening tip and steadily pulled away across all four quarters, turning a competitive opening stretch into a thoroughly one-sided result.

Match Overview

Played at Lummen's home court with a 20:45 tip-off, the game was expected to be a test of whether the hosts could match Kortrijk's intensity on the perimeter. That question was answered early. Kortrijk controlled the tempo, moved the ball with purpose, and punished every Lummen lapse with efficient scoring at the other end.

• Winning margin: 37 points

How the Game Unfolded

Kortrijk set the tone in the first quarter, scoring 25 points while restricting Lummen to just 14. Their defensive pressure forced the hosts into difficult shots, and once the rebounds were secured, the transition game was ruthless. Lummen's half-court offense looked labored by comparison, with possessions frequently ending in forced attempts.

The second quarter was more of the same. Kortrijk added 22 points to Lummen's 13, stretching the halftime lead to 20. The visitors' advantage on the boards and their ability to generate second-chance points made the difference, as Lummen simply could not string together consecutive stops.

After the break, Kortrijk kept their foot on the gas. A 21-11 third quarter pushed the margin beyond 30, and although Lummen showed more attacking intent in the final period, trading baskets could not close the gap. The final 20-13 quarter secured an emphatic 37-point win.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• Q1: Kortrijk 25-14
• Q2: Kortrijk 22-13 (47-27 at halftime)
• Q3: Kortrijk 21-11 (68-38)
• Q4: Kortrijk 20-13 (88-51 final)

Key Moments

The decisive passage came late in the first quarter and into the early second, when Kortrijk rattled off a sustained run that turned a manageable deficit into a double-digit cushion. A pair of transition baskets and a well-executed pick-and-roll sequence forced Lummen into a timeout that did little to halt the momentum.

Early in the third quarter, Kortrijk effectively sealed the result with a quick 8-0 burst, pushing the lead past 25. From that point, the game became a matter of managing minutes and maintaining concentration.

Tactical Story

Kortrijk's success was built on defensive discipline. They closed out hard on shooters, switched effectively on screens, and consistently forced Lummen into late-clock decisions. On offense, they shared the ball exceptionally well, creating open looks both inside and beyond the arc.

Lummen's struggles were largely structural. Without a reliable interior presence to draw double teams, their perimeter players faced constant pressure. Rebounding was another problem area, with Kortrijk repeatedly extending possessions and limiting the hosts to one shot per trip.

Standout Players

Kortrijk's guards dictated the flow of the game, combining efficient shooting with smart decision-making in the pick-and-roll. Their forwards were active on both glass and defense, while the bench provided a steady stream of energy without any drop in execution. It was a genuinely complete team performance.

For Lummen, the effort level remained high throughout, and their fourth-quarter response showed character. The team's younger rotation players gained valuable minutes against a strong opponent, which could pay dividends later in the campaign.

What It Means

The win boosts Kortrijk Women's standing in the Belgium Women's Division 1 table and reinforces their reputation as one of the league's most consistent road teams. A 37-point margin away from home is a meaningful marker of quality and point differential.

Lummen Women will need to regroup quickly. The schedule in Division 1 rarely offers a soft landing, and correcting the rebounding and half-court execution issues exposed in this game will be essential if they are to climb the standings.
